We had been to the Grand Cafe many years ago. We came upon it again while wandering in Lyon. Such change has been for the better but better yet, not much change. A place from the past. The service was excellent, excellent. The food was fine. The wine list as well. The neighborhood was quiet. We ate dinner early due to the tumult in Lyon and elsewhere and got to our hotel before dark. If in Lyon again, we will return. View all feedback.

We have been coming to this place for many years and fear this will be our last after yesterday. We sat outside for a drink in the afternoon. The waitress was abrupt and had no smile for the customers, only her friends who were sat at a table nearby who were given all their drinks for free as well as nibbles. We booked for 8, including 2 children aged 3 and 5, my reservation is confirmed, on our arrival the “butler” tells us that he does not have our reservation, I show it to him, despite this his behavior is odious, he found us a table of 8 people (a favor) in two seconds, it was ours… of course. My conclusion, if children are not welcome at the “grand café des négociants” let it be said, I would also like to point out that we spent more than 60 euros per person… On the other hand, our server was very friendly. Our children have always accompanied us, we have very often had lunch or dinner in Michelin-starred restaurants, and our children are always very well received, you are an institution in Lyon, that is a great shame.

My favorite café in Lyon for the atmosphere and tradition. I have already been more than 10 times since I arrived in Lyon. On the other hand, the service needs to improve, already we don't want to go there for a coffee to have fun and be treated badly. I have already been treated badly at least 3 times, the waiters have already asked me to change places, I could not choose the table where I would like to sit, since the whole restaurant was empty and things like this always happen . The service lacks to match the atmosphere. The Gastronomy and Cocktails are generally good, but if the atmosphere is full the quality of things drops a lot.
