What Olivier Perez doesn't like about In Cuisine:
We visited this restaurant for lunch yesterday after reading a Guardian review. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. The asparagus soup to start looked like dishwater and tasted of less... It was served at the same time as the main courses (lentils with aubergine for me and quinoa and cheese gateau for my girlfriend) - these were average but very small portions. The soufflé glacé dessert was oversweet an... View all feedback.
Great lunch spotTop 10 restaurants according to The GuardianInteresting restaurant inside the cooking book storeThe lunch combo was awesome.
We stopped in yesterday and inquired about taking a cooking class. The owner, Marianne Vellieux, proposed a lunch class based on our preferences. We arrived today and Isabelle, our chef, was waiting for us with all of the ingredients for our class. We made an appetizer of cream cheese and fresh herbs, including scallion, chives, parsley and garlic which we rolled in thin slices of smoked salmon and placed atop a small salad with dijon vinagarette which we made with sherry vinegar. The entree was chicken breast baked in cream and herbs. We made mashed potatoes, boiled with some nutmeg, which we riced to perfection then using a pastry bag, pressed onto the plates. The vegetable was carrots with herbs, cooked to perfection. The dessert was a chocolate Moelleux with whipped cream. The entire meal was magnifique! This was a fabulous way to spend a few hours and all of the recipes were easy to prepare. I highly recommend In Cuisine to anyone who wants excellent food, as they are a restaurant as well as offering a cooking class and cookbooks. Our menu was created especially for the four of us and Isabelle was most helpful and flexible with ingredients as we prepared everything. If you are in Lyon and want a fabulous meal or cooking class, you will be most pleased with your experience at In Cuisine. I felt we had a marvelous experience, a delicious meal and recipes to take home for later.
It is a very nice place to have lunch and browse for cook books. Service is great and you can also enjoy a cup of tea.
Homemade food Nice atmosphere Amazing team great service original Before making my internship here I perceived already all this qualities inside the place and now even more since we are putting a huge enthusiasm to improve the concept and make an original offer.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at In Cuisine for an extraordinary cooking class experience. I was able to book a class with an English speaking chef who did an amazing job of making sure I (as the only foreigner in the class) felt included and had equal opportunity to participate. The food we cooked was amazing too! Cheese soufflé balls, prawns, Jerusalem artichoke jus with milk foam and tiramisu. There were four courses so the value was also great compared to other cooking classes in the city. This was such a great experience - definitely the highlight of my time in Lyon.
