I recommend booking in advance. Excellent Tuscan appetizers and marinated aubergines. The grilled cod, fried chicken and rabbit and horse tartare are delicious. Very friendly, helpful and professional dining room staff. Experience to be repeated.
Amazing hidden gem in Lucca incredible dishes at very affordable prices! A lot of locals here as well and the staff was so friendly thank you Irene we will be back soon!
Historic Tuscan trattoria in Lucca, a fixed stop for me when I come to the city. Typical Tuscan cuisine, of which I recommend trying the soup samples. Large place where you can feel the history of the restaurant. Countless VIPs have passed through it, especially Italian and foreign artists. A destination in particular for cartoonists, as also recalled by the plaque dedicated to Gian Luigi and Sergio Bonelli. Menu with wide choice and good price, considering the level of the restaurant.
Recommended by the manager of the hotel where we stayed while visiting Lucca, we went without a doubt. Very kind, they welcomed us even without a reservation, asking to free the table in an hour or so... that's fine... it's a trattoria-style place, we liked it... unfortunately, the table was right in front of the counter in the middle of the traffic, but it was either that or nothing. The food was decent; the appetizer wasn't overly generous, but good; my wife's soup was unfortunately a bit lukewarm; my first course, macaroni tortellati, a portion certainly not large, but good, though nothing memorable; and for dessert, a decent crème brulee. The price was fair for a decent, unpretentious dinner. As often happens in touristy places, there are places that thrive on word of mouth, but they have nothing more to offer than others, or at least not more. Of course, reading other excellent reviews, if we were to pass through Lucca again, we'd give it another chance, perhaps booking ahead and looking at other specialties.
We dined there two nights in a row during our trip to Lucca. We were impressed by the informal atmosphere, typical of old-fashioned trattorias, where you can enjoy authentic food and generous portions. The staff was very friendly, the service was quick, and the prices were reasonable compared to other similar establishments.
