Chicken was piping hot, crispy and super juicy on the inside. French fries were well seasoned. The shrimp PoBoy and Bengiets really made me miss New Orleans. I'm so happy that there is such a delicious and authentic southern restaurant in the south Bay. Will definitely be back to try everything else in due time. View all feedback.
What Haylie Mraz doesn't like about The Bywater:
We had food poisoning from the oysters with projectile vomit. Additionally portion sizes and seasoning for gumbo and jambalaya were tiny and disappointing. As in ladle of spicy soup with three mussels and bowl of rice with sparse vegetables respectively tiny. Really disappointed with the whole experience. Drinks are well made and strong though View all feedback.
Bywater is not disappointing. if they love oysters, show up before five to get the happy hour pricing on a dozen or 2 and a few happy cocktails or glasses wein, then they stay at dinner. it is casual and yet high quality, especially if they love seafood. I tried the whole menu at this place quite. the fried chicken is always a winner. .
An absolute joy from beginning to end. all eating was amazing and service was professional and friendly. luck hour is about 230-5... check the website, not my memory. there was a special happy hour menu that had lots of cocktails, weine, beer and a good sample of eating. the dinner menu comes at 5 and has some seasonal elements. I want to go back before the soft dish is crumb dish from the season.
Last week we had a nice dinner in bywater on the back terrace. we enjoyed eating the gum beards, the fries, burgers, special salat, and of course it had to do everything with the beignets! yum! they have almost too much powder sugar but then again, who dipped with melt in their mouth patched frit in luscious chocolate! I liked the atmosphere and the decor. We could do a few hours as if we were in nola and that was funny! I also loved the alcohol-free sky-smooth. it was beautiful and frightening!
We were on Saturday night. the tables were full; reservation recommended. the tables outside had space and we sat right away. the heat lamps were warm enough! we went for drinks and snacks (no main dishes). cocktails were fun and strong to choose a lot. we have the voodoo-slushy- would highly recommend. comes into a small plastic cup, but packs a stamp. the natives were only fruity but not too sweet, the pimm cup was refreshing and delicious! the fries were cesty with a little spicy and perfectly crispy. the beignets were phenomenal. highly recommended. our server shandra was excellent and so helpful! she gave great menu recommendations and we can not wait to go back and try to eat (and have them help us again! .
