I was in Long Beach for a few days and this restaurant is definitely one of the best places to eat in the city! We didn't have a reservation, but we were seated right away. We wanted to sit on the terrace because it was a nice day, but we didn't get to choose our seating. We will remember that for next time! The beer selection was great with a big Hahn beer. We both had different fried sandwiches and they were both d... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Cove:
The crispy chicken sandwich was burnt, bacon was burnt and I was disappointed in the quality of food for the cost. It was 3 frozen overly cooked chicken tenders garnished with some burnt black bacon, the bun looked like it’s been smashed. Customer service was good, location was good, quality of food was poor. We wanted to try this place for a long time to reserve 8 on a Friday night. menu has exactly allowed the correct amount of option changes (loaded baked potato was too good to get up)....waitstaff is very attentive. food came in the expected time. Drinks were pleasant eating was mainly desserts delectable. would definitely recommend.
It was my birthday dinner. My 65. I made reservations for a table by the fireplace. Perfect they seated us in front of the fireplace. But shortly after turned it off. 20 or more minutes go by before anyone waits on us. I saw some weird power play happening between the waitresses before they realized we had been ignored. When the brought the first round of coffee it was tepid. Never checked back to see if we needed more coffee or water. When they brought the soup we asked for more coffee. Didn't bring it till after we asked again when they brought the meal that took forever. The waitresses and staff were still not working as a team. This time the coffee was finally hot. But half my food was cold. Happy Birthday to me, not. They didn't charge us and offered a free desert but we were done with the experience by then. Won't be going back.
The food tasted great. In fact, the clam chowder dish is potentially one of the best I've ever tasted. But, service was a little on the slow side. There seemed to only be 1 host and 1 server, with 1 extra person helping wherever they could. I felt like I was being rushed every time I tried talking to any of them. I removed a star for that experience. If they would be able to provide service without making me feel like I'm burdening them for a meal, they would easily make 5 stars.
Dinner after nine holes at the nearby GC. Wife had bowl of delicious clam chowder, I had a Blue Cheese Burger on the outside patio. Dog friendly, too!
When you order fish and chips with a side of chowder for $18. No where does it tell you that they're taking away the fries. Also no lemon. Waste of money.
