We were delighted with our visit to Quo Vadis. We were a party of 6 and our table was perfect. The team were wonderfully attentive in just the right way, knowledgeable and added to the whole experience. As for the food, it was utterly delicious, it's hard to mention standouts but the soup of the day, goose rillettes, hake and seafood vol-au-vent were standouts. The desserts are delicious too but we were glad to share... View all feedback.
What Justine Clarke doesn't like about Quo Vadis:
there was no atmosphere, although the lighting was perfect, one could do with a background music so that one does not hear the conversation from any surrounding table, it felt like a doctor waiting room. we actually let ourselves eat somewhere else, as it felt too uncomfortable in such a quiet. beautiful decoration and service, but it lacks ambiente. Very close to my work. we often go to dinner in the evening. more beautiful place, eating surpasses the expectations, the only bit that they must be careful is the waiting time. when they go late in the evening, they expect a waiting period of at least one hour, but otherwise I must go out of my own. pav bhaji is a must. although I am a vegetarian, but my friends recommend very huhn rubin and keema pav.
The vibe there are few places in london, which I would like to return to the time. for many different reasons, few restaurants and bars are actually on the test of the time. quo vadis, capitancy of sam and eddie hard (from fino and barrafina) and chef jeremy lee, is like a fine wine and is simply better with old. quality is steadfast and never compromised for fashion, luxury is second nature, although never venerable and it is just a great place to have a great old time, no matter what time of day or year they visit. think back luxe laid, there is something clearly English about the deep south above this place; dress smartly or they will feel smartly. the expensive bubbles are always the right answer here so exercise intentionally when it works on a budget. an institution in london and for good reason. perfect for an breakfast date; exquisite menu and many fresh baked goods. take this gourmand(e) they have been poised for some time and maybe hang around until lunch, just because the order they hold the drink classic, and that should they also. do not go too far from the excellent cosmopolitan or espresso martini from the bar. the whiskey cocktails are damn good. Bar snacks are tempting and dig, that will not live itself. try the “Kickshaw” (I will not pamper him for them – they have to find out for themselves) or the smoked Aal sandwich for nibbles if not stick around. when they have a table in the restaurant, they go for their lives. choose from fantasies British dressed like warm salate from longhorn, plucked walnut and bark or mutton shoulder, wide beans and wild garlic. if they choose the appetizer menu, how some of them could be culture voltures only, they do not leave without two-openings of the mandel, blueberry and lemon fair. in others, the sticky toffee pudding is lovely. the game to get a table here can be tricky. they plan it in advance. it is a beautiful place for a drink (the inner bar has a cute corner banquet with strong canoodle inducing forces, there is a handful of soon-achin tables out perfect for summer drinks and people watching a deux) but it is also a safe thing for dinner. they can do this on two; either book a table in the bar for classic pre-dinner drinks in a quirky, British nay post-colonial setting and drive them to the latest restaurant opening in soho for dinner or try them somewhere like eccentric as the French house very close to an aperitif and book them at qw for a slap-up dinner. in the latter scenario, they can still use the cash later if they find that they are one of these woody allen-esque-geist dialogue marathons, even if it ends to be with themselves only. the mistakes are you sweating? another brandy alexander please, bar delicate sex factor 4. if it is not broken, not repair.
Since jeremy lee rocked on pots and pans qw has become a real banker in the londoner restaurant canon of quality. simple, well-designed, satisfying food goes on. taste combinations are spot on, delivery excellent, service perfectly whipped and the decor and ambiente hard to beat; it is a small piece art deco elegance and quiet directly in the middle of the holler and schlagrei, soho. the bar also rocks martinis. this is one of my favorite places in the west end.
A proper night out.... The menu is very nicely balanced with pretty much everything on there I would eat with a good selection of both meat and fish/seafood dishes, Queen Scallops, Razor Clams, Dover Sole, Ray and a very healthy selection of oysters. Meat dishes included Partridge, Rabbit several different cuts of beef including the 56 day hung Longhorn Beef Rib and the now ubiquitous Pork Belly. We kicked off with a selection of Oysters, a mixture of the fat creamy Pacific 's and some of the smaller, more delicate Native 's. I 'm a big fan of both loving the creamy texture of the former and the very distinct flavour of the natives. We also had a plate of Wild Sea Bass Ceviche with avocado and tomato. This is fish 'cooked ' in lime and whilst the fish was flavoursome and had the texture of sashimi it was really only the lime I could taste and had no other flavour dimension. I was reliably advised to have the Veal Cutlet and Celeriac Purée cooked pink and with some extra mash potato. This was quite simply superb. An incredible piece of meat cooked to absolute perfection with a heavily reduced stock which pumped out flavour and with the Celeriac it was divine. It just goes to show that the less is more and the importance of the piece of meat in the beginning you cant 't dress a turd! This was a fantastic meal and I have since been back and ate the sweetbreads of said animal above and was equally as delicious
Smashing in Soho. A fab place for a special meal in Soho. The food is magical. The Hart Brothers are the guys behind Fino and barrafina (both worth checking out). The barstaff create some truly delicious cocktails try the Earl Grey martini! If you want to celebrate something special you should definitely head here.
