I couldn't resist trying this teppanyaki style ice cream. This reminds me of the rolled ice cream which you see in side stalls in Thailand. I don't mind a bit of theatre so it's fun to watch them work their magic on the cold plate turning melted ice cream into rolled thin ice cream scrolls. I had the yoghurt with strawberry and watermelon while my brother had the vanilla with Oreo and kit Kat. The taste is good, interesting flavours, refreshing on the palate, and is good for its price point at $6.50. It's nice to try something different and Pop Stick is definitely worth a visit. 7/10.
I really like the concept of this place. It's got so many sweet treats so it makes sense that the stall is situated in the area where there are kids shops and play area. I got excited when I saw they were doing Thai style scroll ice cream or what they call 'teppanyaki ice cream'. I'm only aware that The Doughnut Bar in town had this (not sure if they still do). If I was a Thai person though i would find it a little weird that a Japanese term would be used to describe it though. I really wanted to like it but I think there were two problems (not necessarily fault of theirs) Firstly, the flavor combination was a bit weird. I choose from their pre-selection. I wanted Matcha ice cream but it came mixed in with fruit. I got the pre selection of matcha plus mango and pineapple and it wasn't great. The ice cream itself was alright. I got 'Choc Hit' Premium on top of that which was okay but maybe not ideal with match and the fruit. I wish I built my own instead of choosing from pre-selection. Secondly, the technique - is there such a thing as being too cold? I think the server waited a little too long to make the scrolls so it was very frozen before rolling...a couple weren't very neat scrolls, kind of like rolling cardboard rather than paper. The cold made all the mix ins a bit unpleasant to eat. Like frozen cream, choc chips, frozen kit Kat.... I decided to wait till everything melted a little. Not sure if it's the nature of dessert or the server here. I would still recommend giving it a try but maybe go with flavours that you know work. Do not get matcha and fruit together as I did. instagram.com

Clever lil idea bringing popular Asian street sweets to brissy! It's entertaining to see them create your fried ice cream! Decently priced.
