Best Ramen in Brisbane.
Love this place. Not designed for eating in so much but the ramen is absolutely amazing, it's worth the wait in line to get your bowl of goodness! View all feedback.
What Shea Streich doesn't like about Genkotsu Ramen:
We had the the miso ramen, side of soft shell crab and prawn gyozas. Everything was delicious, the ramen was one of the best I’ve had! I love it how you can order yourself and additional sides and toppings to customise your ramen. Definitely will be back! View all feedback.
I have been here many times and it is one of my favourite ramen restaurant. It is a very small restaurant with only few seats and accepts cash only. The ramen is very similar to the ones in Japan (Salty and oily) but very rich in flavour. I sometimes do scoop out the oil and add a little water to the bowl when the staff is not looking :p Price wise it is very reasonable and extra noodles is free for big eaters.
I have been here 5+ times, desperately trying to love this place. Lots of variety in the menu which contrasts this place to others - however, I couldn't settle on a stand out ramen. Tried the fish, crab, black garlic, soy, prawn, chilli flavours but have not found a winner. Noodles are too soft for my liking, and soup is usually over-salted. Flavours are over-powering and not delicate like ramen should be.
Normally eat at Hakataya Ramen but decided to give them a try. A lot more choices available at this ramen place, but I think it over complicates the decision process. Ramen was alright but the broth was no where as good as Hakataya. It was very filling though due to the free extra noodles. Soft shell crab was wonderfully cooked and crispy. Would go back just for the crab.

. Atmosphere 4/5 Price 4/5 Food 4/5 Had ramen cravings last night and wanted something different to Hakataya (don't get me wrong, i love that place too!) When we walked in, the actual seating area itself is small with a counter area as well as table seating, VERY traditional Japanese style store as I am part Japanese and have frequented many ramen shops over there. To order you line up and pay, then find a seat, again, during peak hours, good luck! I have seen in the past a lineup outside the door before. Food came very quick and looked very similar to the menu photo's I ordered the miso ramen and my friend got the kara (spicy) ramen in miso flavour. We also ordered additional sides of karaage and chuka wakame. My miso ramen did not disappoint! very strong flavors and noodles were cooked perfect with a chewy texture. One thing people may find a bit different with the ramen broth here is that the soup is a little thick and oily... read more
