We've used this place for many years and are rarely disappointed. Food tastes fresh with plenty of mixed vegetables and portions are generous. Even better now it delivers. Not full of the SMG like other Chinese. Quality food and really reasonably priced. Would highly recommend. View all feedback.
What easy travellor doesn't like about West Derby Takeaway:
Ordered online for collection and this is 2nd time this month I've arrived 20 minutes after it was meant to be ready by and had to wait a further 30 40 minutes. They clearly have an issue with cooking in allotted time and should send text/email when they actually cooking food. The food is nice if a little greasy. I won't be going again as can't do with poor customer service View all feedback.
Best salt pfeffer chips ive had, fast delivery super friendly, chow my is amazing and highly recommended for all
A secret is dreamed! I always wondered why after the phone instruction and the time for picking up, the order is never ready? they wait in the regular 20 minutes after the arrival to collect. Now I know! After she had taken my money, she called telephone instruction and directed my order through the famous hole in the wall. so they don't really cook their food until they show up to pay. So I'm gonna stand out from now on, order my food and then go in and pay for it. Hopefully this will save an hour?
I'm not sure if there is a new chef at this restaurant, but the quality of the food seems to be deteriorating. I recently ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, fried rice, and chips, and I was extremely disappointed. The chicken was tough and inedible, with soggy batter that was undercooked. The crinkle cut chips that I used to love were now straight, greasy, and cold, a far cry from what they used to be for the past 30 years. The fried rice was also burnt. Ultimately, we had to throw everything away and order from a different establishment. The customer service was just as bad as the food, and I wouldn't even give this place one star.
Once possibly the best Chinese takeaway in Liverpool, new owners have been in place a couple of years now and sadly while prices have gone up quality has really gone down, the chicken foo yeung was a highlight at one time, now it’s the toughest chicken I’ve ever tasted, curry like water, soggy chips and the foo yeung with just four small prawns. Made a decision not to visit this place from now on after getting food from them for the last 20 years.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, especially the sweet and sour chicken or King Prawn dishes. It can get busy at times, so there may be a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected. I recommend calling ahead to place your order. If you're looking for a quick portion of chips, this may not be the place for you. I suspect the negative review may be from a competitor, as most other reviews are very positive. Overall, I give this restaurant a 4-5 star rating.
