The ravioli here was to die for. The food was delicious and was presented beautifully. We stayed in Kressbronn so it was a short little walk to Lindau, but quite worth it. The restaurant is close to the water so you can easily go for...a postdinner stroll View all feedback.
What Ignė Vaidota doesn't like about Weinstube Frey:
Closed, Closed, Closed There is a notice on the door since last year, that a new investor will open it again. Maybe the new name will be Fata Morgana
We only called in for pre dinner drinks, but found delightful surroundings and charming staff. Think: oak beamed bierkeller albeit on the first floor and you get the idea
The bay window table makes you feel like a king ,good food and service .Easy to miss as it's upstairs then turn left to find the cosy room
We visit every few years and always eat here multiple times, time and time again. After trying a few other places every time, I can reconfirm this is the best place to find local flavors and foods in a casual, yet full of atmosphere indoor...and outdoor environment
Head to head comparison with Engelstube nearby, same steak dish : Engels is better. Frey is fine, if Engels is packed, which it was when we returned there this evening. Frey is bigger and had more free tables. No English menu, which is a good...or a bad thing, depending on your point of view. We were handed a German menu and left to our own devices. Picked the dish that sounded like the one which one of us had had the previous evening in Engels. Turned out to be exactly the same. Later when we asked for the dessert menu, we seemed to generate great mirth for our waitress, who sought to join other diners in the joke. Don't know what the joke was, but do know it was at our expense. Our appetites for dessert lost, we drank up and departed. Stark contrast to Engels. The food was fine in Frey, but we would not return. We would definitely go back to Engels
