We stumbled across this place by chance; it was lunchtime and this was the closest establishment according to Yelp. The owner/server sat us outside and was...

On our second visit to Lille, we had to go to the same restaurant where we had such an enjoyable culinary experience in 2015 and was only topped with such a friendly, gentle and generous host (who is also the owner and spoke flawless English which was a great help to us) that made quite an impression on us. The food and the accompanying wine selection are PERFECT .. Our favourite entrée l'Escargot à Maroilles is out of this world and the main plates and desserts were equally so delicious - just like the very first time we were there .. Our host was very helpful in assisting us with selecting a great wine that went so well with the entrée and main plates AND it was not at all expensive - A BIG THANK YOU for such a memorable time!! We are leaving France tomorrow going home to Sydney and we are already looking forward to our next visit next year to L'Etable in Lille!

Small menu (usually a good sign) plus some specials (and the current wine list) handwritten in an exercise book (which added to the charm immediately). Owner was very pleasant. We were amazed by the quality for the very reasonable price (food and wine). Delicious starters (lasagne with goat's cheese and smoked salmon and vege raviolis). Thought these were going to be hard to beat but excellent main courses as well (pork in beer and cod 'fish and chips' but a bit different to your average British takeaway! Really pleased to have eaten here (we spotted it whilst walking round the Old Town earlier in the day and were very glad we chose to try it)

Terrible experience! Never coming back. This was our fourth visit in three years, and it will be the last. The change of chef is obvious — and not for the better. We ordered the monkfish tandoori: completely over-spiced, unpleasant, and not at all what you’d expect from La Table du Clarance. The dessert? Not even worth mentioning — a total disappointment. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place.

Wonderful experience I recommend if you want a good during winter.
