Buffet De La Gare - Leysin

The whole experience was lovely. The food is alright but the portion is really large. I enjoyed the steak burger and the salad here. The staffs are nice as well.

This is the most flavorful meal I've had in Switzerland. The first time I had eaten here, but will definitely be back!

The food is really amazing! Pizza, pasta, salads... everything is really good and delicious! The service is fast, the staff really nice and kind. The place is a bit little, but really cute and for me and my friends is kind of a home right now, comfy and nice. And the Aperol Spritz here is the best in town!

I was the person with the burnt burger last Thursday. I have eaten at your restaurant several times. Your business normally has excellent service. I have worked in restaurants as well and understand the stress and pressure. The burger was burnt to the point of being crunchy. I was unsure if I should return it, as it is not common practice in Europe. I agree with your statement that burgers are not steaks. There is a danger of being underdone, but in this case, the meat was black on the outside and overcooked on the inside to being more like a jerky. I did not believe this would be a demanding request. I had also consulted with my friends to see what they had thought. I have only ever asked for something new in a restaurant perhaps three times in my life. I was raised to appreciate everything, but when paying for food, burnt and crunchy is not an option. I realize it was a busy lunch that day with several groups, so missing one item can happen.​ We are human and can make mistakes. This was a forgivable mistake and easy to correct but that was never offered. My intention was not to anger the chef who was clearly offended when I returned my burger. I asked the waitress if I could have the burger exchanged for another. She wanted the entire plate, but I only wanted a different burger​ because the fries and salad that were on the plate were fine​. She asked if I wanted to speak to the chef. I said no. I explained in French, when she asked what the problem was, "C'est tres bien cuit." I did not want to insult someone's work, so it was the most polite thing I could think of.The chef came out and was irate. He basically threw the plate on the table and said "What's wrong with this?" I said, "It's overdone." He said no one else complained. I said that they are also not black. After this, I said "ok fine." I thought it would stop this situation. He shouted, "What ok fine?" I said "forget about it." He kept pushing the situation and by this point, I just wanted to leave. He left the now cold dish there. We paid for all of our meals and left. Luckily one friend had some leftovers and gave them to me since my meal was cold and burnt, which is an even worse combo. You are right there are other places to get burgers in Leysin. Prior to this experience I would go to the Station bi-weekly. I liked the politeness of the owners and the food is normally excellent. I will not be coming to this establishment anymore, which is too bad. Your waitress was polite on this day, as are all of your wait staff​ in my past experience​. This is a small village and ​I wanted to maintain the peace, ​but because I​ was treated less than human​,​ I won't be coming back​;​ not because of the burnt burger.​Best of luck. If I were to rate this place on other experiences, I would have written "excellent."
