I had a bad experience at Taipei Gourmet so gave this place a shot. Overall it was pretty good with a few weird disappointments, mainly that the noodles for the lo mein and spicy beef noodle soup were very fettuccine-like?they were quite firm and not very tasty/appetizing compared to softer noodles. The braised pork was very good but only had 5 pieces of meat. The soup/juicy dumplings were also very good. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Formosa Taipei:
Food was unappetizing our shrimp with garlic sauce was burned and had no taste of garlic. Very over priced. Our Scallion pancakes was tasteless and very greasy. Literally one Scallops in the happy meal. Can't compare to the great wall in Bedford. Better off go there. View all feedback.
I ordered from here twice, both times were good. I particularly enjoy the house special lo mine; its not too fat, and has a decent part of each meat and also has a decent amount of vegetables. 1 year later: I still have food here. I ordered the hot pots lately, they're pretty good.
A little hole-in-the-wall restaurant providing friendly service and mostly delicious food. I love this place and it 's one of my favorite restaurants. The not-so-great characteristics: Dishes are served on plastic and styrofoam take out containers even when you dine in. The ambience is nothing great. It 's spartan. The pad thai was not good. What I love about this place: When I 've dined there or gotten take out I 've usually been served by an exceptionally friendly, pleasant lady. Absolutely adorable. Most of the dishes we 've had have been delicious and prepared well. All of the beef soups and bowls we 've had have been absolutely delicious. Excellent broth. Always prompt service with modest prices. You can order online or by phone. Free parking in their private lot is usually available.
Where do I even begin. This place is wonderful. Everyone working here is so polite and happy to see you. The delivery is super fast as well. The food is so so good. Always a need
Delicious, high-quality and affordable Chinese American cuisine in the Waltham area!
I have loved this place for many years and thought of the time I wrote a review. This Chinese restaurant has some of the most authentic, top quality Chinese food in the area. Our family lived in China for a year back in 1996 and the cooking techniques remind me more than any other Chinese restaurant in the area of food in us able to get in China. For example, Chinese Pea Shoots (Dou Miao), delicately fried with garlic, are often available for request and the Sautéed Shanghai Greens and Sautéed String Beans are also excellent. One thing we often miss is the vegetables in completely American restaurants... we can get what we long, skillfully cooked, in Formosa Taipei. Another dish I can never get enough is the Ko-Cha Dish, a magical combination of pork, squid, dried tofu with vegetables and a spicy black bean sauce... I feel I'm here in China with this one. I enjoy many of the appetizers as well as the delicate different Steamed Dumplings, pork naturally a favorite, but I also enjoy a lot the shrimps and vegetarians, the key here is that the tilting furs are not excessively thick, as is often the case in some restaurants here. Also the salt and pepper chicken is not to be missed; spicy and salty, but not saucy. I saved the best Spicy Noodles in Soup with Beef Sirloin. This court is unbelievable. You have to slow the meat for many, many hours to tender it and make a good soup stock; his just incredible. I never had his same place. Most restaurants just seem to shave some beef in the soup and cook it a little. If you have ever made shares and/or stew, you will know that this does not give you a satisfying broth. These are just examples. I still find new things that I have a lot of fun on the menu. I strongly recommend to get at least something from the authentic traditional Chinese section.
