We were lucky to discover this place via 2 friends who were passing one evening and came away raving about the food. It 's not particularly smart (it needs re-decorating) and it 's got plastic table cloths, so you probably wouldn 't go there for a romantic evening,...but the food is fabulous. Since I discovered their Rojak noodles (soft noodles with peanut sauce, so good) I rarely order anything else. The vegetarian... View all feedback.
What Riley Lloyd doesn't like about Matahari:
The service was excellent, the decor was nice. Food was so so. As a Malaysian myself, I might have expected a little too much. Other customers seems to be very happy though. View all feedback.
We order from here fairly regularly and are big fans of the hot and sour soup, the mee goreng, and the crispy aromatic duck. The service is brilliant as well. A favourite.
First time ordering from here, everything tasted really good. We will definitely be ordering again from here soon.
My family and I have been visiting/ordering from Matahari since it opened years ago. Lovely, family-run place with friendly, efficient service. Great value too. The food is fantastic, delicious sauces, particularly excellent prawn toasts and the soft shell chilli crab is to die for. At...some Thai/Malaysian restaurants the food especially the starters can be greasy. Not at Matahari I've tried most dishes on the menu and they've all been delicious. We've also been here for celebrations and the welcome and service has been great. Can't recommend highly enough!
We are Hither Green locals and Matahari is the best Chinese/Malaysian you'll find in London. We go there or get delivery about once a week. The staff are so friendly and the food is so so so good. Try the crispy duck pancakes, crispy chicken...with spicy sauce, beef rendang and Singapore noodles. Can't speak more highly of this place. Love it love it love it.
What can I say about this restaurant and takeaway..... excellent springs to mind. The food is really good and I have yet to find a better Malaysian and Chinese. Run by a family you can certainly tell by their attention to detail. Always warmly welcomed,...whether we ordered a takeaway or ate in. I love the spicy beancurd for starters (spicy chillis and the crispy lettuce and lamb is so nice. The vegetarian dumplings are so good too I could order loads of starters and skip the main course! However, the mains are just as good I recommend the lamb rendang or the Prawn sambal as my two favourites!! The restaurant is cosy and a great local restaurant, but a takeaway is always good too. Without a doubt I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area as the food is sooooo good (and I have unfortunately we have now moved to a different area and I do miss this place. I do wish them every success as they totally deserve it!
