What Cameron Lee doesn't like about Village Grill - Village Hotel Leeds North:
Bargain Sunday Roast. If you want a great Sunday Roast, served in carvery surroundings at a bargain price, then this is the place. Six courses of good quality food served in airport hotel style surroundings, aided and abetted by friendly staff; and all for a tenner. Your other option would be McDs or Pizza Hut; so theres no competition really. Three of us went last Sunday and chose a Mediterranean salad from the sala... View all feedback.
Nice eating and drinking, staff are very friendly and helpful
I visited pub and grill bar in other village hotels, but that was my first visit. to say I was disappointed, is an understatement. I booked well in advance for table. when I arrived, no table was booked, even if one of the employees brought my reservation on his tablet and I had previously confirmed my reservation. I was told to find one table and sit there. as they want, it was very busy because of football and rugby. After we wait for table to become available, we have settled. After waiting for someone to come to us (what they did not) I went to cash and explained that we included our meal in our stay and which menu we could use. I was told that they always used and one was pointed to me. we choose our eating and patiently waited at the bar for 15 minutes, just to say that we had the wrong menu it was a set menu from which we had to choose. I went back to my party of 6 and asked her to choose again. back to the bar for another 15 minutes waiting and ordered our food. after a 35-minute waiting period, our starters came out. After we had waited five minutes for my starter who was humous, we ate. our main meal began minus the cheese on our burgers, for which we paid extra. my daughter waited for her 10 minutes after we got ours. when we ask where her meal was, we were told that we were sorry we forgot to get out. when she got her steak, they had forgotten the pfeffer sauce. ! after completing our main course 2 of my party had paid for dessert, it was obvious to wait after another 20-minute, it was not appearing. until now it was 10.45 we had our table for 8 o'clock booked. when I approached a worker, no apology or explanation was offered about the series of failures. we had booked a night to meet the family. to celebrate the 30th birthday of my daughter. that has proved to be a sniff. I'm sure they can understand why my party of 6 was so disappointed.
We have visited this place several times, both as a large group and as smaller parties in the past. we were rejected despite the inaccessible cash. 3 of the 4 sides were clogged with bar chairs, and the only free side was reserved for the glass collection and the staff refused to serve everyone standing there. it took almost 25 minutes to order a round drink, then almost 35 to order food. when the food came, the burger greased and the hull warns as hot as it should be. the bar staff was rude, especially the young Asian memeber of the staff. as a member of our party complained, they waited 25 minutes to order their food, he said his busy, what can I do, promise sick they are the next. then he went on to serve 3 other people before he came back to us. we asked both the waiter and the hotel reception to talk to the manager, they did not come, but sent their stellar who could only announce that it is really busy and did not apologize for the fate eating. we have eaten here several times and also visited for drinks-serval times, but that was the worst service and eating we have received. the restaurant was aware that this was a special occasion, someone birthday, but if a little less effort than usual was made by the staff. it was clear that the people who knew them with names were served in front of others to block access to the bar. we were not the only visitors who were upset with the service and we saw that some people emigrate. I had to apologise to my other guests at my choice of the place, it was embarrassing. I guess it was a busy evening, both rugby and football were on the stage at the same time. I do not know how rude and dissatisfied her establishment is.
Lovely meal on Friday afternoon, in pleasant surroundings.
It's been a while since I've eaten at the Village North and was very pleasantly surprised at the refurbishment to the restaurant. The new open plan is lovely, menu is great and so were the staff. Booking is easy, prices are very reasonable and we loved it. A special thank you for surprising my grandson by lightning up his desert with a big sparkler!! He loved it.
