Fast sevice, clean restaurant, good waffles and eggs. Would skip the skillets as not very tastey, burnt a bit yet no texture on top half. Ample parking, great ambiance for breakfast, and friendly patrons. View all feedback.
What K doesn't like about Smitty's Family And Lounge:
$18.99 for a breakfast skillet 1/4 the size of a Denny’s one. I was still hungry after. Deli diced ham, a few slices of sausage and 2 skimpy bacon. Cost $85 with tip for 2 kids and 2 adults to eat breakfast. You can get the grand slam at Denny’s and not even finish it there is so much food. Waste of money. Left full and angry. Kids pancakes were a joke.
They have finally changed their beef dip meal in the lounge. Last year I was not impressed. Now it's amazing. Had not been back forever as the baby size fries were never enough and beef dip was not great. Not sure who makes it now but don't change it. Now I will be back more frequent. Some more fries and it's a 5 star.
Service was really good, not coming back all the time to check on you just often enough on her way by. Food was typical of Smittys. Nothing special, but hit the spot for breakfast on the way home.
Had the breakfast special but wanted a side order of bacon. Never got the beacon first or last. Ask if wanted refill on coffee. Never came back only to collect for the bill. Never served no pancake syrup or butter. Had to ask another customer to borrow theirs. When I left , the server was put back having a smoke. Think I’ll go to Leduc diner next time.Kid-friendliness: Seen kid thereParking: Lots of roomWheelchair accessibility: Seen that was included
This Smitty's is my favorite go-to for a sit-down meal. The food is classic diner food and I have never had any problems with quality or presentation. The only reason it's a 4 instead of a 5 is that it's quite simply diner food from a large franchise. The service is always excellent, the staff is prompt to seat you. They are attentive without being annoying and always willing to engage in a short conversation if they have a free moment. The restaurant building is clean and maintained but is showing its age. Worn seats in some benches, cracked flooring, and worn paint; but in all honesty, it just adds to the atmosphere.
I hate writing bad reviews, but unfortunately, this one has to be explained ?Upon arrival, there were 2 tables in the restaurant with patrons. we waited almost 10 minutes for someone to seat us (we're patient people), and there was no staff in sight during this time. There is a massive fish tank that looks like it was once beautiful but is full of black algae (not good for fish), the seats in the booths for more than 2 guests need the material replaced, now the food... I wish I had taken a photo, my husband ordered poutine, my daughter ordered the honey bbq bacon burger and I ordered the cajun chicken burger and all dishes obviously came with fries there were barely enough fries to cover the bottom of the dish the poutine came in and I had 15 fries on my plate and my daughter had a little less. When we were done eating, the server brought the bill and the machine to pay, no offer for anything for dessert or coffee or even another drink ?Not sure if this Smittys is closing or struggling to remain open I hope that they can recover as Smitty's really was one of my favorite family restaurants when I was growing up and during my children's younger years.
