Wow! What a gem in Laurel. By far the best place we had a meal hands down. We had the fried green tomatoes and bang bang shrimp for appetizers. Both were great! I had the redfish and it was fantastic. Even the leftovers reheated were great. My husband had the ribeye steak and he enjoyed it as well. Both also enjoyed the loaded potato casserole. Definitely worth the visit. View all feedback.
What MJ doesn't like about The Loft:
The staff was amazing and loved the waitress. It's a super busy place, we went on a Tuesday I think and it was full. Crab cake pasta wasn't very good. Crab cake was fishy and pretty much all dark meat, almost had a canned tuna essence and sauce I swear was the same sauce that came with our fries green tomato app. Kind of strange. Red fish was very overcooked. They had plenty of seafood dishes so I'd expect they can cook them to the correct temperatures. Our app salad and main dish all came out pretty much together and there were so many flies outside that they were all over anything you weren't immediately eating. So we couldn't eat our salads before the flies.
Music was too loud and the food was not seasoned enough
It was busy on a Friday evening, but the staff was attentive and accommodating. The food is excellent! Definitely recommend!
We drove an hour and a half here to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. I have heard great things about this restaurant so we decided it would be good to try. First off, we called the restaurant to make a reservation and they had turned their phone off (according to the message). Once we got there they had us wait 30 minutes for an outside table or an hour for an inside table. We chose outside simply for faster service. Between the very uncomfortable chairs and the stray cat and her latest litter of kittens roaming around it wasn't pleasant. We ordered our drinks and of course they only have a very limited selection unless you order from the bar. But had no bar menu!!! Appetizer came and it was barely edible. Menu states it was artisan mix of cheeses and a homemade Marinara sauce. They didn't deliver as promised....cheesesticks were your typical Sysco frozen breaded variety topped with that powdered fake Parmasean cheese and served with what tasted like pure tomato sauce from the can....and the sauce was cold. Then Salads were brought to the table. The Salads were very large to be a side salad but didn't have anything but Lettuce, a bit of cheese, and store bought Croutons. No cucumber, tomato, etc. We did eat about 1/4 of the salad. Our entrées are finally brought to the table. I had ordered the reddish, and my husband ordered a steak medium rare. The fish was inedible as was the overcheesed potato casserole. The steak was way overcooked. We sent both entrées back. The sweet waitress was great and apologized profusely, but we knew it wasn't her fault. She spoke to the manager at least twice on our behalf. But....with all of our issues the pitiful excuse of a manager never once came to our table. My husband had to go find her. She was sweeping the floor. I'm sure that was much more important of a task for a manager to tend to than 2 very unhappy patrons. Her grandpa probably owns the place is the only reason she could still have a job..
Something different to eat, although it was carelessly decorated, but it was tasty. Lovely outdoor area with an extremely loud and creaky door. Very annoying and disturbing. Nonetheless, a place to come back to.
