Moose Lodge Boat House At The Whiteface Club Resort

Jonathan Studley is doing amazing things at the Boathouse. We've been living here for 20 years and this is BY FAR the best the food has ever been. Period. Yes the prices are up, but aren't they up everywhere? The menu is simple but something for everyone, nice beef filet, always a good chicken option and some game like elk and venison available too sometimes. Don't be surprised to find new features popping up occasionally like Ramen, which was delightful. Our favorite this summer was the REAL blue point oysters with apple mignonette. I'd be remiss not to mention the Kobe beef burger, which is hands down the best burger in the Adirondacks. Chef is also doing Cafe on the Green Veranda dinners with Thursday evening music and a nightly three course $45 Prix Fix menu to much acclaim. So be sure to check those out this winter. Finally, the boathouse is good for more than wine at sunset; now you can get one of the best meals in LP.

Sat on the deck and enjoyed an afternoon drink overlooking Lake Placid and the boats in the marina. Gorgeous!

The restaurant about 1/8 of a mile up the lake refused us service because we were not guest of their lodge, so we drove to this other lodge, which has the exact same view, but actual friendly service. We were greeted immediately, seated at the table of our choice (literally hanging over Lake Placid), and served very promptly. The wine was an extremely generous pour. The food was good, maybe nothing to write home about, but the views... priceless! We had a lovely afternoon without any of the snootiness and attitude found a short distance away.

We were on vacation.The place we were staying recommended us to go there to eat .I had to call for reservations .The girl said there’s a wedding. So that they we’re starting at 730 opening .I said I’ll take it ! It’s our wedding Anniversary!! So I thought wow!! Theres A wedding the food should be good!! We arrived early. We went to the hostess, We said Hi ! We have reservation. She said unfortunately we are booked.I said!! we have reservations!!! Im not understanding what your saying!! If you ever a watch sitcom, it’s like you can’t make this stuff up .Any way it just went done hill from there.We could of just left . But we were hungry !! We were ask to sit in the front of the hostess and we said no!! It was supposed to be a special dinner.So they sat us In front of the building looking over lake placid. She gave me a blanket.The waiter came and ask what we would like to drink . He asked for a land shark beer . He came back and said unfortunately we are out . The wedding party must of took them all . But unfortunately we had made a bad choice! The food was cold!! Who sends out a half of chicken on a bed of rice cold !! I don’t think he knows what he’s doing!! It’s like he took out the refrigerator and put on my plate. When the waiter came back and asked me how it is? I stayed quiet,my husband was already agitated and annoyed .This person who they called a chef or a cook Didn’t care.The burger was asked to be cooked medium. It was still mooing.. red .The food came out in five minutes. Who!! Cooks in 5 minutes!!!! Normally you can smell your food when it’s cooked. The only hot food was the fries!!! The cook didn’t make the fries!!! Because they were hot!! At the end I said to the waiter that my chicken was cold . He said sorry! I’ll tell the cook . We said don’t bother. When you are spending money going out to eat . And you are expecting really good food !! I do not recommend this place !!!!!

As always,the Moose Lodge does not disappoint.The views of the lake are worth coming for and the food is a bonus.I have come to this place for years,and I’m always upset they don’t stay open past Labor Day.Kid-friendliness: Always have something the offspring will feed on.Parking: Not the greatest parking situation,but not as bad as Main St in the summer.
