What DJ Toastby doesn't like about Howie’s On La Crosse:
I was last in Howie's sometime in the early 80's when my big brother was a UWL student. . As a matter of nostalgia I went there with him when he visited. Absolutely nothing wrong with the experience. It does seem clean and well kept. That said, it was absolutely depressing to sit in a generic B dubs knockoff with a plug n play menu. I've seen all I need to just another soulless sports bar. I'm glad to have the memory... View all feedback.
While we have enjoyed a few meals here, (we have a daughter at Viterbo), we’ve had great food 90% of the time! We love the cool atmosphere of the vintage beer memorabilia. I give the food a 4* because while everything from salads, wraps and burgers are excellent, we tried the fish fry not once but twice, the fried fish was way too greasy. To the point we’re picking the batter off to eat only the fish. This last visit we made, the kitchen ran out of mashed potatoes it was only 7pm. Kind of unexpected. Service has always been great and the food and drink selection is great as well. I won’t stop going, we just won’t order the fried fish anymore.
Great food. Service is always good. They have amazing wings.
