Les Copains d'Abord - La Ciotat

Went there for a Monday lunch. We sat on a table close to the sea, the view was lovely. But that is as good as it got: the service was slow and the food very average (I personally cook better than that). Salmon tartare absolutely tasteless (the quality of the salmon was rather lame). Even the fries were poor (cooked from frozen). The coffee was good, I must admit.Morale? I will definately not go back again.

Mixed feelings all the way. We had a great meal at a very reasonable price (€57 for 2 mains, 2 desserts, 0.75l of rose and coffee) sitting few steps away from a beautiful beach with heat sea biews. Seems perfect, right? Well not really..We could not get over just how bad the service was. Our waitress was either new or completely demotivated and incompetent - we spent 2h eating lunch,. we had to ask for water 3 times, our plates were not cleared for at least 20 minutes, we waited patiently for our single espresso additional 10 minutes, but table next door was not as patient and after 15 minutes of wait gave up

We have been to the south of France many times in the last 10 years, but it was our first time in La Ciotat and in this restaurant. Usually those kind of restaurants on the coast are decent but that's it. Nothing special.This one definitely stand out from the crowd.First, because the service was perfect, super friendly but not invasive.The food, local, was super tasty, fresh, nicely prepared and quickly served.The restaurant itself is super clean and the terrace outside (with heater during winter) is cosy for an after diner drink );Comparing to the quality of the food and the kindness of the service, the bill was definitely reasonable and we absolutely didn't regret any euro spent.Even at the end, we stayed 30 more minutes to discuss with the staff asking for some good tips about what to visit around.If you're around, don't hesitate a second!One of a kind!

Very tasty and balanced food.We enjoyed lunch having a great view to the sea.The staff was very friendly.We liked it!

Had an excellent dinner, despite being a large group. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Food was lovely, including the Ester lamb. A highlight was the stuffed courgette flowers
