Friendly service and great burgers were the highlight of our lunch here. The place has a rustic feel to it, but in a good way! Kid-friendliness: A couple of families were dining while we were there. Wheelchair accessibility: My mom is in a wheelchair and no issues coming in thru the front door. View all feedback.
What Kristy Bean doesn't like about Grand Old West:
After a long day of travel, we didn’t feel like cooking so we stopped in for dinner. We saw several vehicles parked out front and figured it was a good sign. We walked in and stood awkwardly by the door while all the folks at the bar turned to look at us. We made eye contact with the three employees behind the bar and not a one of them acknowledged we were standing there. There were two tables sitting with menus and... View all feedback.
Loved the interior. We just had drinks at this stop.
The double cheeseburger and fries were outstanding The service was perfect they stayed on top of the drinks and a comfortable place to eat.
Like my mom cooked the meal. I had chicken fried steak with gravy. Absolutely like your mother made it atmosphere is a 50s tables and bar place loved it
We visited Grand Old West while taking a scenic route from Vail to Fort Collins, accompanied by my mother, my wife, and our three kids. My wife was craving a hamburger, and the reviews suggested this place was a good choice. Upon arrival, everything seemed promising. The staff was friendly, and they were accommodating with high chairs for our kids. However, it was evident that the restaurant was understaffed, with only two employees handling all the tables and the bar. We ordered drinks and our meals, and although the drinks came out in a decent time, the wait for our food was exceptionally long. We waited for 45 minutes without any updates or refills on our drinks, while other tables that arrived after us were served and even left. Our server never checked back with us during this time. With kids on a road trip, this wait was particularly challenging, but they handled it well. After waiting for another 20 minutes, my mother politely asked if they could at least bring some fries for the kids. The server’s response was rude and dismissive, telling us to be patient despite our extended wait time. This was surprising and disappointing. Finally, after a total wait of over 1.5 hours, I decided to cancel our order and pay for the drinks. Only then did the other server check on our order, finding it ready. The food was satisfactory, but the experience was overshadowed by the excessive wait and the rude handling of our situation. Our original server never returned to our table, and the other server brought our bill. While I understand that restaurants can get busy, how the staff handles such situations makes all the difference. Unfortunately, this experience was poorly managed, which was disheartening given our support for a small-town business. The food was solid, but the service needs significant improvement.
Great food and great service, if they have the shrimp grilled cheese special, get it!
