We went to this restaurant in 2015 and we were very pleasantly surprised. Not being a big meat eater and unsure of the food that was available in Hong Kong our family loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff who were very accommodating to us English speaking folk. Food was absolutely amazing. Fresh, lots of variety and friendly staff. View all feedback.
What Patriciab Bohannon doesn't like about Light Vegetarian:
Lunch time it is not a buffet. The yum cha (dim sim) dishes were relatively expensive. You could get better value elsewhere. The ginger mushroom steamed buns were shocking. Looking at other tables by the locals, it seemed the dim sims were not the popular food. Anyway the wait staff were friendly. Note the 10% service charge. View all feedback.
I have always wanted to try the veg dimsums here but I get here late when everything is sold out. Managed to pass by when lots of the dimsums were still here and I was intending to get one of each. As I was going to 5 different dimsums, I ordered two first in case it was too fast for her but she just asked me for the money right away when I hadn't finished ordering. Everything was stuffed in the bag and a box costs $2 which I wouldn't mind paying if I was offered the box option. To be honest, they all tasted really similar. Practically everything had radish and same ingredients except the mock charsiu buns and charsiu steamed bun. The steamed charsiu bun was too dry for my liking.
If you wanna try every traditional Chinese dish at once, this is your place. The buffet has a lot of options to choose from and most of them are delicious (I’m not used to some of the flavours, but it’s just me... my non vegan sister loved them all! . The staff is really reallyyyyy lovely. Tags with the names of the dishes and if they’re vegan or not could be really useful.
A lot of choices on the buffet and all very delicious! Would really recommend this place. Try the spinach and aduki bean dish. It might be the best i have ever had.
Light vegetarian offer two options a downstairs buffet or a la carte restaurant upstairs. We were looking for a good feed so we chose the buffet and ordered tea with our meal. The buffet is excellent with constantly changing dishes soups, juk (congee), tofu, vegetable, mock meat, mushroom bases, sushi and salads. Being a buffet you can try and return for seconds or sample a bit of everything. The food was fresh, tasty and filling. Desert was also provided (biscuits, pancakes or waffles with peanut butter and/or sweetened condensed milk). The decor was fairly average and the staff struggled with English. I wouldn't go for a special night out or to impress someone, but at HK$283 for two with tea it is an excellent value vegetarian option
I arrived at about 10 PM on a Saturday night (about 30 mins before last orders), solo, and was assisted by a helpful and cheery waitress who suggested the buffet, which I highly recommend. It is extensive soup, congee, many veg dishes with and without mock meats, salad, dessert, etc. and tasty. Many large groups of locals at the round tables, including families, and few expats. I'd like to return with a group and order off the menu, as many of the dishes at other tables appeared to be quite interesting. The buffet is HK$72.6 (less than US$10) with service charge.
