What Frederik Balistreri doesn't like about Arches Restaurant:
3 course meal dinner was wonderful as in its choices & value. But since you do expect same value & quality, the breakfast was very poor-after one breakfast, there was really anything to look forward to for the next. eg/ basic toast, very small fruit platter, cereal, bacon & scrambled egg, sausages, coffee & tea, that is it.
Friendly staff, food was mostly good (if you don't count the creme brûlée topped with burnt salt...) but very expensive for what it was.
Great food with the exception of the osso bucco - not cooked for long enough. Our food was included in our package stay at the Kosi Chalet and it was of a high standard. Especially good for a ski chalet.
The menu was great and the food was very high quality. Nice atmosphere and outstanding service level with friendly staff. Really impressed.
I recently dined here during a stay at the hotel. My accommodation was basic and so I had little expectations of this restaurant. I was in fact blown away. Dined here two nights and could honestly not fault anything. The staff were friendly and attentive, the dining room was classy, cosy and intimate, and they nailed it with the food. They offered a vegetarian option in both entree and mains, and the portion sizes were what you would find in other fine dining restaurants. When taking into account the location, the prices were reasonable, and what you would pay in Sydney or Hunter Valley. I had scallops, lamb rillette, salmon, and a quinoa and pumpkin tower over the course of my stay and nothing was over or undercooked, all with balanced flavours. I was happy to find the vegetarian option not lacking in flavour or presentation, as they usually are on other menus. Do try the chocolate pudding if given the opportunity - what looks rich, luscious and velvety on the outside its flavour is subtle and sill chocolatey without being ridiculously sweet. Buffet breakfast is also good, with your usual selection you would find in other hotels.I also need to note when they had run out of the wine I had ordered by the glass I was offered a glass of something better only offered by the bottle, at no additional cost - I don't often see this happening these days. More often than not it is the attitude that we don't have 'x' left, too bad, pick something else. The staff seemed genuinely interested we were enjoying our meals and well looked after, again, not something often found any more, especially with younger staff.
3 courses all included in the package price You could chose whatever you liked no restrictions And eat in peace, with most children in the kids club Plus no overcharging for alcohol Only niggle was duck was over cooked
