We heard a lot of good things about Hans im Glueck , the growing German burger chain, so gave it a try. The service team was really nice and we enjoyed our stay. The burgers are made fresh to order, however I miss a bit of...the magic that I expect from restaurant specialised on burgers their sauces did not do it for me. View all feedback.
What Fridolin Baur doesn't like about Hans Im Gluck:
Unfortunately, 60 minutes have become from the original 30 minutes delivery time, so the pommes were cold and the drinks ordered for this were not included in the delivery. this time very disappointing! View all feedback.
One of my first restaurant experiences in Cologne was at Hans Im Gluck—and it's still one of the best. The portions are large and very filling. As fas as veggie options, you can't go wrong. There are numerous (I think 7) vegetarian burger options and they are all good. Yes, I've tried them all and love them all! I hear the meat burgers are very good too—but I can't say for personal experience. The salads and superb as well. I actually have a tough time deciding what to order here. The mixed drinks are a specialty and are well made. Of course, you can always get a Kölsche, which goes well with a burger.
While this isn't the cheapest lunch you can find in the city, you won't get a nicer meal for the 10-15€ you will spend here. Delicious chicken and beef burgers, and a massive pile of fries with your choice of sauce. The building and setting is a lovely place to sit and enjoy lunch, as well as a nice cold beer on a warm day.All up it was 28€ for two burgers, heaps of fries and two 500ml beers for the two of us for lunch. On a budget the burgers alone start at 6€. Would certainly return but I'm leaving the city in 1 days time.
Yes, it's a burgerplace. Yes, it's a network of burgerplaces. Yet it was refreshing; yet the service was Friendly with a big F; and yet we did enjoy not only fine burgers but fine atmosphere. The youth of Cologne know. You can live on a budget and live your own style. 5 stars for filling up the place to the last chair.
My wife and I stayed near the Stadtwald for several days and explored the dining options on Dürener Straße throughout. Hans im Glück caught our attention with its modern, funky decor and the crowd of people visible through the mostly glass shop front. Having eaten almost exclusively German cuisine throughout our vacation, we rationalized that a return to American food might be a welcome token of familiarity, and I am pleased to say that Hans im Glück did not disappoint. The interior design might not be for everyone, with chipboard-like flooring, felt mats on the tables and benches, and slender birch trunks demarcating booths, windows, and walkways, but we thought it unique and engaging. The raw, natural decor underscored the stated intent of providing food from simple, quality ingredients, and the casual dress of the wait staff made the experience feel unpretentious and welcoming. The view from our upstairs booth near the windows gave a nice panorama of the intersection below. While the beef portion in a standard burger left something to be desired for my American appetite, the presentation and taste were excellent. This is far from the greasy fare that one might expect from a burger restaurant. I would judge the meal options a good value for the money, with extensive options for customization. As we left, I distinctly wished for more time in Köln, so that I could eat here again. Highly recommended.
Thought of everything, warm, tasty! as always perfect!
