It seems something else with that name, but it's actually like a Hindu chiringuito, which isn't on the beach, that is, it's close, very simple, with the straw roof, but it's a very popular restaurant among the Western people, it's always full mostly at night. the best is its location at the end of the princess street one of the main shopping streets of cochin, where all tourists walk after the excursions. It seems another thing with that name, but it's actually like a Hindu chiringuito, which isn't on the beach, that is, it's close, very simple, with the straw roof, but it's a very popular restaurant among Western people, it's always full mostly at night. The best is its location at the end of Princess Street one of the main shopping streets of Cochin, where all tourists walk after the excursions. There is Indian food, fish and pasta, I say pasta because there was only one guy, with tomato, onion and pepper, we ate pasta since we had already 10 days in India and liked European food, was quite good. The juices were very large and freshly expressed, there was no beer since in the vicinity there is a school and a church (Indian habit of a few years ago).
We dined in this restaurant twice during our stay in Fort Kochi. It is one of the few that serves alcohol. We were there for New Years Eve and had a bottle of the Sula wine (decent enough), tempura prawns, honey glazed pineapple, massala fish...and pander curry. All delicious. There are a few seats around the pool which is lovely. Quite hot though! Inside is fairly basic but nice enough. No air con- but plenty of fans. Best thing by far is the service- super speedy and attentative which is hard to find in these parts! Thank you guys!
An old Jewish house converted to a hotel. Very hospitable staff and good food on the menu. Light classical music and a candle on the table makes the ambience very romantic. Tables around a small pool should be avoided more for the mosquitoes. Local food...is good, also serves beer (that many others in the vicinity does not serve) We spent an evening after all the sightseeing to windup a wonderful trip we had at Fort Kochi.
We were the only people there, so hardly a good atmosphere. weeping, but they only had half flakes. instead of doing what any good waiter/manager/saurateur would do and offer us two half bottles for the same price as a whole, they said we...has at half the bottle price that could be more than the whole bottle price. lesbians. what a marketing catastrophe. that was okay. one of the few places that have served wein and beer should have lined in the height of the celebration season. before the seagull.
