100% WORTH IT. AS SOMEONE WHO'S FAMILY BACKGROUND IS GHANAIAN. I WAS QUITE HAPPY WITH THE FOOD AND WOULD RECOMMEND TO HAVE SOME GREAT WEST AFRICAN EATS. ALTHOUGH YOU MIGHT WANT TO COME A BIT EARLIER IN THE EVENING AS THE BEEF STEW WAS GREAT SOME WAS A BIT ROUGH. MY FRIENDS I WERE SATISFIED THE WAITRESS WAS AWESOME AND GAVE ME SOME GARI TO TAKE HOME. YOU MADE THIS BITTHDAY BOY QUITE HAPPY WITH YOUR SERVICE THE LIVE MUSIC AND DECOR WAS A1 9.5/10 WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
What Jessica Poku doesn't like about Copacabana Catering Cafe:
I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ordered from Uber Eats when I was feeling unwell and homesick, but I received a bowl of bones and fufu that had a human hair in it. I won't be giving them another chance. View all feedback.
This place is bussin bussin. Went on my birthday and I got free food. I am now mad thick of food and I will be rolling home full of some top notch food. This food is great for sustaining a happy mood. I also had sprite with my food. 5 stars
The food was beautifully packaged, not the most important part but my eyes was sure pleased. The wait time is the quickest i have experienced in a restaurant and everything i purchased was tasty.Service was top notch.Got a frequent check up to ensure everything was fine.
My friend and I are relatively new to the DC area and we love trying new foods and cuisines. I was looking for a west African restaurant and Bukom was one of the search results that came up. I had my heart set on trying fufu so I was super excited. The service at Bukom was great! The waitress who took our order was very nice and even the bar tender and another employee came by to check on us. (They make strong drinks but I'm not complaining :D) We ordered the wings to start and they were juicy, tender, and crispy on the outside. The sauce that came with it was tangy and a little sweet so it was a nice flavor combo. Next, we split a main dish which was the oxtail and of course got it with fufu. OH MY GOSH! The oxtail was so tender and fell right off the bone and that sauce was delicious. The fufu was everything I expected and more! For those who have never had it, the consistency reminds me of gnocchi except you tear it apart from a big ball and use it to sop up the sauce. I could eat that all day! Anytime I'm looking for west African food I know where I'm eating! Next I want to try the peanut soup.
I got to hang out there with a friend late the Saturday night. The live band was amazing and audio guys who helped make it sound really good were awesome. I'm a bit of an audiophile and the space seems impossible to make sound right due to dimensions but it is still awesome. I loved the African beer (Star) and also the wings were phenomenal. My friend had some food that left over that was amazing even the next day! Highly recommend Bokum and I'll always go there whenever I can. Great hospitality too!
Great place for drinks food and live music!! I've been going for over 25 years. The only downfall is the traffic and parking is horrible.Food: 5/5
