The Old City Bank Brasserie is located upstairs in the Saloon Bar and only a minute walk from the main house and stone's throw from Katoomba Rail Station. The rest offers a casual dining atmosphere similar to a Bistro. The Lunchtime menu was very limited but reasonably priced. We went very early so experienced no Service problems. They have some nice Ales. The Food was OK but not amazing. It was like a nice car whose engi... What Sydnie Rutherford doesn't like about The Carrington Hotel:
While we love the Carrington Hotel itself we were very disappointed on our recent visit to the cocktail bar. The staff weren't very helpful or friendly but the bar tender was nice. It cost us over $42 for two drinks that were average to say the least, and from the menu so nothing fancy. Great eating, generous portions. the waiting staff had the tendency to promise something and then had to remember.
Katoombas most identifiable location. spacious and comfortable, the interiors are warm and cozy in winter, and the terrace is unmatched in summer. the personal is friendly and the carrington is the ideal place to lounge with friends.
A charming, great old hotel with a lot of character and probably also a few ghosts. refresh yourself a drink from the cocktail bar and relax at the fireplace in the living room, or find a place on the veranda and admire the gardens.
I was several times at the carrington hotel and was there in a lot of features: from my sister year 10 formal to the lady luck festival. After I grew up in the blue mountains, I love the history of the carrington hotel. I had high tea in the front rooms, relaxed with a drink in the cocktail lounge and had a practical help of a continental breakfast before they vent to take all blue mountains.
If you're looking for somewhere oldschool cozy, you'll be happy here. After ordering at the bar (we both had burgers) we headed to the tables in Charlie's bar, where the food came fast the service was good. I went for a wander found the lounge area with plenty of comfy lounges infront of a crackling fire place. It was perfect after our hike taking a break from the cold weather.
