Sokrates - Karlsruhe

My husband and I liked the modern interior design and very relaxed atmosphere. The staff were all extremely friendly and quick to come check in on our table even with a full house and gave good recommendations on food for two people. We ordered beers...and seafood mixed platter for with the grill meat plate as a main. And of course, Ouzo in between each course! The appetizers were delicious with good variety and came with a special seasoned bread. We could not get enough of their fried calamari, next time we will order a big plate! It took some time for the meat to arrive at our table but the drinks came out fast so we did not mind waiting and it was worth it in the end. The Souvlaki was the star, highly recommend. They only allowed person at a time for the bathroom with strict rules on disinfection which was good, Thumbs up for that here

This was just fantastic. Great atmosphere. Very friendly. Great with kids. And the food... the food was perfect... I definitely recommend this place

Found this place by accident as it was from my accommodation. I love Greek food and although it was a busy Saturday night inside, they happily gave me a table with an English menu, although the specials menu was only in German. Ordered a...small carafe of wine, no complaints there. Limited vegetarian choice, chose a green salad with olive paste and Greek soft cheese. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Read the reviews after my visit, but seems they were from months ago and I would say that the restaurant has certainly upped their game

I came into Karlsruhe exhausted from a trip from the US and the kind folks at the Hotel Elite recommended the Greek restaurant around the corner for something good and close. Although i'm not ordinarily a big fan of greek food, I decided to...throw on some shorts, a polo shirt and some sandals and go eat before falling into bed. When I got to the restaurant I noticed the other guests were dressed somewhat better than I was and the wait staff was looking a little skeptically at me so I asked if my attire was okay or whther I needed to change. The boss, a friendly guy named Vaggelis hope I got that correct said, Sure, come in. We don't have a dress code, we have an attitude code. My waiter, Argi, helped me select the Souvlaki, which is now one of my favorite pork dishes next to bacon! This dish is tender pieces of marinated grilled pork on a skewer seasoned with olive oil and the lightest most flavorful spices served on a bed of rice that is flavored so deliciously that it melts in your mouth. The dipping sauce for the pork tzatziki? is a light yogurtbased sauce with cucumber and dill flavoring. It is OUT OF THIS WORLD. After the meal they brought a complimentary shot of uzo and all in all made this lonely, tired traveler feel welcomed and at home. I ate there two more of my four nights...each time as rewarding as the first. Great food; great service; great people. Classy place

Tasty food, nice and clean place, good price and very friendly staff. I do recommend it. I will repeat when I visit Karlsruhe again
