This is more than just a restaurant, it is a community where we were welcomed like family from the moment we walked in the door. The food was outstanding, with everything being fresh, hot and delicious. Despite being busy, even on a weekday afternoon, the short wait was well worth it. We loved getting to know the staff and other regular customers. We will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for a wonderf... View all feedback.
What Melissa Blackwell doesn't like about Tao Tao:
Ordered delivery to hotel. Reasonable delivery time.Food was bland, the egg rolls mega greasy. Terribly overpriced for the quality. We were excited to try all the flavors of won tons but we should’ve saved the money. The portions were huge but the food was not good. As hungry as we were, we all barely ate. This was after we had to hunt down something to eat the food with.No forks were included (nor chop sticks or spoon... View all feedback.
We had the absolute AMAZING experience at Tao Tao with our first visit last week. The feisty 75 year old Chef who is as cute as a button has been cooking this food for 50 years in the same location!!! How could I have missed this all these years?? She’s famous for her different flavored crab rangoons both savory and for dessert! The service was impeccable from Ms. Tina, the Chef’s daughter and we had no complaints that night except our bellies were full and the distance was worth the drive! The Singapore noodles and the Lomein are a must! Her fried chicken with any sauce you want is tops. I became a fan of egg foo yong when I tasted her crab and shrimp with brown gravy. And the sweet and sour pork just had the perfect blend of acidity and sweetness! Hah! We will be back for more!
This has become my favorite restaurant after ONE visit! Amazing customer service with delicious food. The chicken fried rice is so filling, they give you so much food at a reasonable price! Definitely will return to try out other items.
What a cool place! Set in a building from the late 1800s, this family owned and operated spot just celebrated 50yrs in business. What a great lead-in to ordering getting to hear this outstanding story of living the American dream. And here the family is going strong 50yrs later. Just fantastic. But it doesn't stop there, as the food was outstanding. Homemade shrimp and chicken egg rolls were the best egg rolls I've ever had. Fantastic combo lo mein rounded out a great dinner, with some free dessert treats for us as first-timers. Recommended to anyone who wants to try it. As the local regulars told us, enjoy it, we know you'll be back
After hearing so many rave reviews about this place on the KC Eats FB page, we decided to make the 40 minute trek to check it out. It most certainly did not disappoint. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted by a lovely lady who already knows you are new. You must be new Tao Tao Babies she said. She then proceeded to yell back at her 75 y/o mother working the wok, Hey mom! We've got Tao Tao Babies She inquired about where we were from, and treated us like we were her long lost friends from years back. My wife and I couldn't help but smile and truly felt at home. We put in a rather large order so we could have a large sampling. We started with the savory 8-pack of Crab Rangoon, a Shrimp Egg Roll, and a Pork Egg Roll. So many places serve small flavorless Crab Rangoon these days. It was nice to have the larger size again that actually had crab inside. This was definitely a first having 4 different flavors (regular, spicy, bacon jalapeno, and spinach parmesan garlic). All were amazing and fresh! I should have known better than to take a bite so quickly, but it all looked amazing! My tongue is still a little tingly. While waiting for our entree in the next room, we heard our host telling other people about the Tao Tao Babies who had driven up from Gardner. We had a good chuckle. She would also yell through the door to check on us as we waited. Our entrees came out hot, fresh, and HUGE! We both loved our choices. I don't taste as much since Covid, but my wife kept raving about her food. We finally ended with the dessert Rangoons. They were probably the least favorite part of our meal, but I would definitely order the Strawberry again.Such a wonderful little restaurant. Make the trip over to KCK more than once and graduate from being a Tao Tao Baby
What’s to say…. We have found our new favorite spot. The food was amazing and a pleasure to the taste buds. Crab Rangoon was best I have had in awhile.. the dessert menu looks dangerous. Huge dinner portions, and great family atmosphere. Order online to help them amd you if you want to speed up the process. We dined in and had a wonderful experience…
