What Petra B doesn't like about Taco Vega:
Worst costumer service ever! We came around 8:45pm on a Saturday and this white cashier tried taking are order and was very rude, dismissive, and condescending. Since we were Latinas, he made sure to let us know that the restaurant was vegan and rolled his eyes. We obviously new that and did the drive for this reason. Not coming here ever again. Great spot!!My favorites: Quinoa taco, refried bean, rice pudding, horchata
I can’t say enough nice things about this place. It is so incredibly good! I bring my non-vegan friend here all the time and they love it. They make the most incredibly beautiful food made from the heart. It’s more of a whole food place, but they also have meat substitute options. I’ve been eating my way through the menu and have yet to find something I don’t like. A beautifully aesthetic restaurant with the most incredible food presented in an even more gorgeous manner. I can’t find a picture of the salad I ordered, but do your eyes and tummy a favor: try one! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, street parking nearby and the best staff around. Great place for a meal with family, friends, a date, or even a business acquaintance for a lunch meeting.

Fairfax has definitely lost an icon.

For long-time vegans and vegetarians, scrumptious vegan Mexican food now exists and among the best places I've been is Taco Vega on Fairfax. It has been more than three decades since I had proper hard shell beef tacos (I don't know if that's a Mexican or Mexican-American dish) and Taco Vega's vegan version brought me back to age 13 or so, growing up in L.A., when food really wasn't all that, but no one had an argument with hard shell beef tacos, which have always been pretty straightforward. Otherwise, Taco Vega's horchata is heavy on the cinnamon and much better than the usual. I will be dreaming about this place for a long while.
