The views are spectacular from here! I suggest allowing time for photos because the sunset and views are so beautiful. We had our own car, so it was a nice drive! (Maybe 5-10 minutes up steep roads). We had dinner at the restaurant and really liked the Argentinian steak. We ordered the lamb but unfortunately it was cold, sent it back and they brought out a new one, the flavor was not our favorite. The house red wine... View all feedback.
What Marc M doesn't like about Kastraki-meteoro:
Great views. I didn‘t enjoy the house made lemonade with ginger which had too much sugar for my taste and no noticeable ginger for too much money. I ordered chicken tacos and the used cheese on the platter smelt funny and probably made me sick for two days. This place is great for a standard drink and views but don‘t order non greek snacks is my advice. View all feedback.

I would suggest a reservation as they have a separate section only for those that made reservations with newer tables and chairs.

Eating your dinner with this view and this detail on the dishes was one of the experiences that you shouldn’t miss. We tried New York strip and lamp with a salad and some wine. The prices was a bit expensive but reasonable for what you eat! The staff was perfect to every detail. We made a reservation and also you should! A huge bravo to all the effort!
Every time I visit Kalamata I visit Kastraki- Meteoro too. The place is mind blowing for someone who visits it for the first time. Of course there are moments like nights with a full moon or nights with salsa dance events which are priceless. Whoever reads this comment can take a moment, see the photos and feel the 10% of the reality. The rest 90% is for whoever visits Kastraki “small Castle”.
This place is THE place when visiting the area of Kalamata! If you are on vacation in the nearby villages it is totally worth the journey to go there for drinks and dinner. First of all a reservation is a must! as you can already imagine All the people that work there from the ones in the entrance to the ones that served us were exceptional and very friendly. The service was really fast for a very crowded place like that. The salad and the complimentary bread was in our table in 10 minutes from when we placed our order!!! We were 4 people and we shared a “Messinian” salad that was really tasty and you could tell that all the ingredients were fresh. We got the fish risotto, the rigatoni with chicken and herb pesto, the black Angus and the New York strips. We topped our meal with two bottles of Lebantidis Sauvignon Blanc that was an exceptional choice. For my tastes the rigatoni was the one that I liked the most from our choices! Unfortunately we were so full that we couldn’t order something for dessert. In total we paid 158€. That might seem a lot but if you think about the quality of the service, the food and the views you get I believe this is very reasonable! I will definitely recommend this place and I am looking forward to be there again in the future and try something else! From what I have noticed they change the menu with seasonal items and in my opinion that’s what really good restaurants should do! 5/5 for the whole experience! PS: there are 2 parking spots that are quite big!
