If the barista tells you that their cappuccino is just one shot of espresso in a 12oz cup, you know to skip any espresso drinks and stick to hot tea instead. That’s not how cappuccinos are made anywhere else in Jersey City. If you do visit this café, definitely go for the hot tea! Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I’m truly disappointed to share this, but repeated disrespect from one of the baristas at Canard Café Jersey City has made it difficult for me to enjoy this place. A few weeks ago, she ignored my clear halal request and served my food incorrectly. Then yesterday, she snapped at me for simply asking for a cup, telling me “the line starts there,” and later accused me of “always” causing problems. I understand that staff can be busy during rush hours, but being busy is no excuse for disrespecting customers. I even reached out to the manager, Gaston, multiple times and left a message but never received a response. What’s even more upsetting is that after these repeated incidents, I’ve started to feel singled out or treated differently each time I come in. I hope that’s not the case, but it’s hard not to feel that way when the behavior continues. This isn’t just poor service; it’s hurtful and dismissive. I hope Canard Café Jersey City addresses this soon so others don’t feel unwelcome. The menu is great, the food deserves 4 stars, the atmosphere 5 stars, but the service sadly only 1 star.
