Maligne Canyon Wilderness Kitchen shares a parking lot with the trailheads for the Maligne Canyon Trail. The parking lot does get busy and full! We went for a morning hike of the canyon, and then wanted to have an early lunch. While the gift shop there opens earlier, the restaurant does not open until promptly at 11:30. Our server, Orion was personable and helpful with suggestions. My husband had the chicken sandwich... View all feedback.
What Elmo Glover doesn't like about Maligne Canyon Restaurant:
A nice place, would have been decent if it wasn't so salty, even for me who loves salty food. Had the steak sandwich. Was watching the chef cook and he just poured salt from a bottle on the food! View all feedback.
If you're looking for a big meal after a hike then this is it. The food was good for lunch and had big servings (more than I needed). A good option if you're in the area. The dining room/area is right next to a rushing river so a nice view.
The food here was so delicious! An easy dinner when tired from travelling with a beautiful buffet variety of dinners from gnocchi to brisket ! Travis was very nice and helpful also. A great spot!
We enjoyed dinner at the Wilderness Kitchen. The prices were fair, and the food was very good. We were seated outside with lovely views. Food came out in a timely manner and the staff was accommodating.

Our server, Orion was personable and helpful with suggestions. My husband had the chicken sandwich and I had the burger. We both ordered a salad as well. Both of the items were very tasty, albeit a bit on the pricy side for what they were $25 for a burger). We had the pleasure of eating outside on the deck, and were reminded that the beauty of the wilderness kitchen was to put down your phone, enjoy the scenic views around you as well as the food! No Wi-fi).
Overall, it was a marvelous experience. Since food is one of the things everyone would consider to have a memorable holiday, I would say, this is my number 1 favorite and even if Jasper is far from Calgary, this made me wanting to come back. When we came, we were greeted and assisted by Elise who was so friendly and had profound knowledge of the menu. I was impressed by the presentation, excellent ambiance and most of all the mouth watering tastes of the food. We have to ask who made the meals as it was all well thought and designed and they all taste so good. Thanks to Emer and Hershey who made the scrumptious meal for us. Our visit with family became even more special.
