Some diners experienced slow service, disappointing food quality, and loud atmosphere, but others raved about the wonderful entrees, friendly service, and great bar service. Lobster dinner was a standout dish, and the ribeye steak on Tuesday nights was highly recommended. Despite some inconsistencies, frequent patrons praised the novelty of the menu and the overall superb dining experience. Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you - The Refuge is a must-try restaurant in Charleston with warm ambiance and inviting seating options.
IMPRESSIVE! Loved our breakfast so much that we went back for dinner later that same night. Staff was friendly and attentive and food was outstanding! The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very tasty. Make sure you save room for the Heath bar bread pudding and key lime pie. Both were some of the best desserts we have had.
Stumbled across this gem on our first trip to Isle of Palms. In the corner of a strip plaza, it is easy to drive past. First pleasant surprise was how comfortable and nice it is inside. We arrived at about 12:30 and sat at the bar. Second surprise, both breakfast and lunch may be ordered 'til 2PM. My wife order the Cesar wrap from the lunch menu and I got the Mexican skillet from The breakfast menu. Both were expertly prepared and delicious. Totally satisfying!
Came here and got brunch at the Refuge. We ordered a flight of mimosa’s. The pineapple mimosa was delicious. We got an Egg Sandwich, which came with cubed potato (named home fries on the menu. We also got the Hometown Breakfast, which had some thick slices of bacon that were nice and crispy. I would recommend this to others visiting Isle of Palms in South Carolina.
Amazing food and friendly service! Bartenders are phenomenal mixologist. Atmosphere is warm and inviting, seating options inside and outside. Great coffee bar also located inside. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner you won't be disappointed.
The Refuge is amazing. Great bar service. Lovely live music. The food is superb. Got the Triggerfish it's slightly sweet and a great blackened seared seasoning. Also got the crabcake sandwich which was so good and meaty.
