We were staying in a holiday cottage in the next village so tried here for something to eat. The landlord couldn't of been more friendly helpful. He let me change around the veggie menu. The food was fantastic it was piping hot freshly cooked. Oh the Dragon fire bitter was the best bitter I've ever tasted. Also the pub is dog friendly which is a rare find in this area I found. What Starlingo doesn't like about Holland Arms:
Hear the carvery here was meant to be good so gave it a go. Sadly it wasn't the case. All the meat was very dry beef pork and turkey! Don't know what they had done to the gravy but it tasted like vinegar and because it was all over the food it spoilt it all!! And brown cabbage?? Won't be back in a hurry! View all feedback.
The food was excellent and we received a friendly welcome. The room was comfortable, but we had to share a bathroom and breakfast was not included.
We visited the recently renovated restaurant for a meal and were quite satisfied. I ordered the gammon with two eggs and freshly cooked chips from the specials board, while my husband opted for the chicken Tikka wrap with salad. He was asked if he wanted chips with his wrap, and he agreed, but they were not included when his meal arrived. However, we were not billed for them, so he went without. Despite this small hiccup, we would definitely return to this restaurant in the future.
My partner and I usually come to this restaurant for a carvery on Sundays because we know we will always have a good meal. However, on our most recent visit, we were disappointed. The portion of meat was very small, and the turkey was extremely dry. The roast beef was tough, almost like beef jerky. The roast potatoes were missing, and even Aunt Bessie's could have done better. There was no stuffing or apple sauce, so we had to bring our own. The peas were so hard that they could have been used as projectiles. The Yorkshire pudding was not quite sure if it was a proper Yorkshire pudding or a pancake. On a positive note, they do offer baby food options such as pureed root mash. To add insult to injury, they have also raised their prices. The only saving grace was that the coke was good.
Been there a few times and the food was very good then a new chef came there and the food went down hill if the english chef is there you are in for a good meal but forget it if the foreign chef is there.
I have used the holland arms on a sunday to go for lunch whenu are on your own and dont feel like cooking its a good place to go the food is not to dear and its hot.
