Taiko - Irvine

Food was great but service was very slow to nonexistent. We went for lunch. I had teriyaki salmon lunch. And my friend had fried tempura veggies w shrimp. We had to ask for more water. Had to ask for someone to take our order. And they never offered to refill our tea. I loved the food as well as my friend. It would have been a better experience with more attentive service.

Food was salty, customer service was not great we had to wait a while for server to came by again to get ginger. The sushi was not good the crab meat had so much mayo. the teriyaki chicken was under cooked. I don't know why so many good reviewsFood: 2/5

Taiko has always been in Irvine for as long as I've known, like a loyal friend. Offering decent and filling meals but lacking any standouts that would make it great.Food: 4/5

1. The food was not even close to what you would have in Japan. The sashimi was not fresh. The sushi was poorly combined with it and disappointing rice: too solid and without any testy flavor.2. The plates and cups were not clean enough.2. The only good thing is that the waiters were friendly.Do not expect a high level Japanese food here.

We learned about this place and had to try it.I got the chirashi bowl. It was really tasty and the fish was fresh. My wife got a lunch special with shrimp tempura and it was really good too.We will definitely be back here.
