What Derek M doesn't like about The Dry Dock:
This is the review of the hotels Christmas Day dinner. We had a family dinner at the restaurant that overlooks the water. It's a really nice setting, and the hotel itself is a solid 4 star. I've been to this hotel many times for weddings and to eat at the dry dock bar. I do like it, but was very disappointed with all of it. The service was so slow- we had to ask for everything 2 or 3 times. The food wasn't great eith... View all feedback.
Superb luxury hotel with great service, super pool and spa. Charming location. Large clean rooms, ours with a killer view and balcony over the inlet. Reed's restaurant is gourmet quality food, best fresh cod with a delicate white sauce. Delicate hone made chicken soup brought to the table as vegetables and the fresh soup poured over. Rump of local lamb remarkable. Burnt Basque cheesecake and apple tart, chef-made and wonderful.

As if walking into a spacious hotel room with large windows overlooking the River Slaney wasn 't enough, a platter of strawberries and marshmallows rested on the table next to a cocktail glass of dark chocolate sauce. I immediately pencilled Heavenly session of chocolate dipping into my diary. It 's those little extra touches that make a customer smile inside. And it 's that inner smile that makes a customer remember to tell their friends... and to come back. I inspected the interesting, pretty paintings, threw myself onto the enormous bed (with silver cushions no less , and twirled into the immaculate bathroom. As I gloried in the beauty of the room, I flung open drawers and presses to find a TV on a pull-out swivel stand, a kettle with the makings of a good cuppa, and an ironing board and iron (I hastily shut that drawer! Ferrycarrig certainly knows how to furnish a room without cluttering it. The staff were very friendly and eager to please and the food in the bar was delicious. The breakfast room was bright with high ceilings. You could choose from (or eat all of the following... A fry-up, scones, fruit, cereal, tea and coffee. I spent a lot of time outside on the riverside dock, gazing at the soaring birds. Bliss... For those of you with little monsters, er I mean kiddies, there 's a children 's Crazy Club so you can get rid of the little buggers... angels... for a bit, while you relax with the (free paper or your other half in your luxurious bedroom... As my aunt had complained about something on her last stay here, we managed to get two free nights in this four-star hotel (We just had to pay a nominal supplement so we could have separate rooms. Not bad if you can get it!
Modern friendly location with lovely views of the fast moving estuary. The rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable with a lovely balcony to watch the birds flying over the river. There are a good range of food options from bar food, to the full restaurant offering locally sourced sea food and meat The leisure centre is well equipped. With a good gym and decent sized swimming pool The staff in all areas of the complex are friendly and couldn't be more helpful A visit here can be very relaxing and enjoyable
Stayed at the Ferrycarrig Hotel last weekend. It has a really great location and we got it at a super price!! We decided to eat at the hotels restaurant after receiving a couple of recommendations from friends regarding it. Reeds has perfect views of the Slaney estuary from where we observed people out boating and swans out swimming in glorious sunshine!! The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and tranquil, the aesthetic of the place really draws the outside, inside : Down to the food, this was fine dining at its best. I had the St Tola (being from Clare, I couldn't resist!! organic goats cheese crumble for my starter and Kilmore hake with sweet potato and vanilla puree and a concasse of tomato, caper and red onion. Both were superb, the hake in particular being deliciously fresh!! We finished with the Killowen Farm lemon curd yoghurt panna cotta. The use of local products is always such a winner for me and this confirmed it for me :
