Coal Miner Cafe - Inverness

We ordered bacon eggs hash browns with toast. It was on the table in front of us in the time it took to toast the bread. The eggs were cold the hash browns were cold as well as the bacon. It was served in a matter of minutes. I believe the eggs bacon hash browns were cooked before we ever arrived at the cafe. At $12.00 it was certainly a disgrace

The food was good. They apologized as soon as we sat down that they were short staffed and that our lunches might be a bit slow. But they weren’t slow from what we could see. We chose their fish and chips for lunch. We really liked the breading on the fish it was light and really crunchy. It was a good solid meal.

We had to wait for an hour to get our food. The nachos tasted like they were topped with pizza sauce. Those who arrived after us were served much quicker. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed.

I had lunch with friends at the Coal Miners Cafe. We all had tasty meals, generous portions for fair prices, and there is a good variety on the menu. It is also our go-to spot for takeout because it's always consistent!

With everything going on in Inverness it seems the Coal Miners Cafe is stuck in the past. The food is solid and the staff is trying hard even though the are short staffed. A good place for a quick bite.
