Taste Of China - ia City

Though I work near Taste of China, for years I have avoided eating here, especially after I got a sick a few times, post lunch. I heard that there was a new cook, so I tried it again and was pleasantly surprised at the freshness and tastiness. I am so glad it is a lunch option again.

The beef noodle is awesome! Everything else,... hmmm... you gotta ask your tongue lol

Overall a pretty good food. The place isn't overly fancy but they offer great service and the food is reasonably priced.

Taste of China serves up average Chinese fare in a simple location. We usually stick to the noodle dishes and the dumplings, which are always tasty but nothing special. The restaurant is definitely nothing special inside with a sterile atmosphere.

Never try a new restaurant when, at dinnertime, you are the only patron! That has been my rule for decades but I violated it this time and was sorry that I did. I thought perhaps the emptiness was due to the place being mainly carry out. After I placed my order and sat down, I thought that perhaps the lack of customers was due to the total dumpiness and dirtiness of the place. Then my food quickly appeared. Too quickly, it turns out, for it bore the telltale signs of a terrible chef using way too much heat. Some of my food was burned, some was raw, and it all tasted like burned grease. The portion was large and, at $7.99, reasonably priced. Too bad it was inedible. No one asked me if the food was OK. There were 5 customers who came by while I was there, so they must fix something right. They must not be ordering the mai fun. This was the worst Asian food I have ever been served and the dirtiest restaurant ever and I've been to Asia!
