What User doesn't like about Longhorn Steakhouse:
Called to make a reservation for a small party for a 70th birthday dinner. I was informed that I can't do a reservations on the weekends because is it first come first serve. That's very absurd considering people usually have gatherings at restaurants on weekends. The manager was short and was cutting me off before I could even finish talking. I called the 280 location and was accommodated right away. Do better. View all feedback.
For my main course, I chose the cowboy chops, accompanied by applewood smoked bacon mac and cheese and sautéed mushrooms. My wife had the flo petite filet, 6 oz, cooked well with a side of fries. The petite filet was indeed cooked perfectly—a big shoutout to the chefs, as not everyone knows how to achieve a well-done steak. My pork chops were also cooked to perfection, and there was a generous portion of mac and cheese and mushrooms on the side. Although we were quite full after dinner, our waitress didn’t ask if we wanted dessert or make any suggestions from the dessert menu. She didn’t refill our sodas, nor did she ask if I wanted another beer. Aside from these couple of minor points, we’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu. Hopefully, our next server will be more attentive with drink refills and dessert offerings.
He treated us dismissively, almost as if we were invisible, before stating he would return shortly to take our drink order. This condescending behavior was humiliating, and I struggled to find the right words to express my disappointment, though I felt he didn't deserve any words at all. I made the immediate decision to leave; I simply couldn't allow his negativity to affect my family and me. When he returned and I asked for his name, his response was dismissive, almost pretending he couldn’t hear me. It was clear he heard me just fine; only a rude person would respond that way. He emanated such negativity that I knew it was best not to waste any more time there. I’m very protective of my family and told him we were leaving. He reacted like a coward and didn’t even attempt to apologize. I had no interest in anything he could offer—no water, appetizers, or dessert. He obviously missed the fact that we expect to be treated with respect and dignity. His behavior led us to miss out on what could have been a wonderful experience that was intended for a lovely young lady named Kesha at the Alabaster location. Despite this unfortunate encounter, we found the rest of the restaurant to be beautiful, peaceful, and with overall phenomenal service. Our appetizers, deer, and other dishes were delicious, and our server treated us with kindness, providing utensils and straws without us even asking. She acknowledged us as human beings, which was a refreshing contrast. Tarren could certainly benefit from learning how to treat guests from Kesha, as her warmth and kindness were evident. However, real change needs to come from within him. I personally will never return to this establishment, thanks to the inappropriate behavior I witnessed. It doesn’t cost anything to treat people kindly, and I refuse to spend my money where such behavior is tolerated. There’s simply no excuse for it.
After we were seated, it took about five minutes for someone to take our drink order, another five minutes for them to deliver the drinks, and then ten minutes later, someone finally came back to ask for our food order. This was frustrating because we had asked for our drinks to be served with lids instead of in glasses, which nobody did. The waitress disappeared for twenty minutes, and when she returned, she came empty-handed and asked what we wanted to order. We expressed that we were ready to eat, but we had already been waiting fifteen extra minutes. My husband’s steak was extremely fatty, and he had to cut around it. During our meal, the waitress took a break and sat with her friends while we waited for our food. After a while, we decided to go to the host stand and request our check, asking them to inform our waitress. When she finally returned, I asked her to remove the military discount and child drink charges from our bill, as those had been included in the children's meals. She argued that my husband had ordered a steak and tried to say it wasn’t applicable, but I clarified that I was referring specifically to the children’s meals and drinks. Ultimately, she just removed the charge without resolve, but I thought drinks were included with the kids' meals. She returned with a drink charge for $3.29, and by that point, my husband was ready to leave. We paid the bill and left, but she handed us the check without a pen for signing. This experience left a negative impression on my family and me, as we regularly dine out and rarely experience service this poor. We do not intend to return to this restaurant, and if we do, we certainly won’t sit in that section. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s disappointing to see such bad service in exchange for our hard-earned money. Management at Longhorn, please don’t offer apologies or excuses for our visit; someone on your staff was clearly not up to standard. Thank you, and have a great day.
