Been here before but first time since covid. The menu has changed completely and the prices have gone up. I used to get their pasta with goat cheese all the time but now it's not there. The popovers are consistently delicious though with their strawberry fluffly butter. The restaurant has indoor and Lana is seating facing the ocean. I ordered the lobster club and didn't know it didn't come with fries but it was delic... View all feedback.
Can't believe I've been sleeping on Mariposa for so long! Came here for the first time for lunch with a friend and the overall experience was amazing, if a bit pricey. I appreciate that they do complimentary popovers with strawberry butter a cup of bone broth soup to start the popover was just okay, but the bone broth was really flavorful. We got the salmon ochazuke and laksa curry both came out with super short wait times and were delicious. I'm used to my laksa having more of a kick and with noodles instead of rice, but still enjoyed the creaminess and taste of the curry all the seafood components were perfectly cooked. My friend loved the salmon ochazuke as also perfectly cooked and on point for Japanese comfort food. We split the macadamia nut tart for dessert crust was yummy. Especial points go to the service which is attentive without being intrusive and they were so kind to let us sit and catch up in peace without feeling rushed at all. Ambiance is peaceful and breezy and I will definitely be back!
Excellent upscale bistro located in the Neiman Marcus in Ala Moana Center. I've been here a couple of times with my wife and her family, and the food is always excellent (along with the service). The most recent time, I got the pulled pork sandwich, which was delicious also came with a crudite salad, which tasted very fresh. We also got a side of truffle fries for the table the first batch came a little lukewarm, but the waiter cheerfully took it back to the kitchen and came back with a piping hot order (which tasted great). Besides the food, another highlight is the view the side of the main dining room facing Ala Moana Blvd is open to the air, and affords a lovely view of Ala Moana Park and its beach. If you can get a table right by the railing, do it it'll make you enjoy your meal even more!
The atmosphere of this restaurant is amazing, but I don 't come for the atmosphere. The reason I only rated it 3 stars, it could be a 4 but I may need to go back a second time to see if the experience is the same. I had made reservations and the 5 of us were seated at a half booth with two chairs, nice seating. We were given our menus and water, offered popover and chicken broth. Chicken broth was amazing and warm. Popover tasted a bit burnt but it was good. Our waiter came to take our order. When he was taking our order he gave me this vibe of we don 't belong in this kind of restaurant . We are locals and try to go to new restaurants and taste new things for special occasions. Anyway, we ordered and the food tasted good. For the price of the scallops, we would 've thought it was jumbo scallops but it wasn 't. We were given a dessert menu and the waiter said he was bringing a dessert for the birthday person. I said ok thank you! We got a slice of macadamia nut pie with a candle. When the check came I was a bit shocked! We were charged 20% gratuity, not sure if they made it aware to customers somewhere. Then I checked our bill and he charged us for the birthday pie!!! If I knew he was going to charge us, he could 've at least gave us a choice on what we wanted. Not sure if I 'll be going back cause I know ow of better places with better service and food tastes just as good for less.
My friend and I had a wonderful lunch at the Mariposa today. I haven't been back for a couple of years and was so glad that we did. We had the choice of being seated inside or on the veranda. The view from the veranda is beautiful as ever, but we decided to stay indoors. It was a bit humid. The popovers and chicken broth were served soon after being seated. They are still as wonderful as ever! I selected the Chopped Salad which was very tasty with cubes of watermelon and mango. My friend had the Braised Duck. She raved about it! We also shared the Mariposa poke, which was also amazing. To end the meal we went for something light, mango sorbet, very refreshing. The service was very attentive and courteous. We were given a lot of time to eat and chat. Never feeling rushed. It's a wonderful place for great food and ambience.
A beautiful brunch at Neiman Marcus. Every single dish we had was perfection. The meal started with a flavorful consume and the most delicious popover. I love the guava butter that comes with the popovers. Those two are such classic staples of NM Mariposa restaurant. My husband and I split a crab and shrimp louis salad which was delicious and perfectly cooked with the tastiest thousand island style dressing. For our entrees, we split a lobster sandwich (we were hungry) and my husband had the braised duck special while I opted for the chicken Milanese. All of the dishes were perfectly cooked and such a delight to eat. My daughter had the chicken tenders and the complimentary gelato that the kids meals come with. We were so happy at the end of our meal. Despite eating a lot of food, we didn't leave feeling heavy or tired. We were full but energized... reminded me of what it felt like to eat and go about your day in your early 20s . The prices are fair and not expensive when you consider that most of these dishes cost about as much as it would to eat at a Nordstrom or any other restaurant. The ambiance and soft Hawaiian music was so relaxing as well, I can't recommend eating at the Mariposa restaurant enough.
