Had to come back after 6 years. I ordered the shrimp sample. If you love garlic, it is. The dish comes with I believe a dozen shrimps with tons of garlic 2 pcs of rice with butter sauce and more garlic. We were lucky when we arrived, there was only one person in front of us. Make sure you bring CASH as this is the only form of payment. The only reason I gave him 4 stars was parking. It's very limited. We found parkin... View all feedback.
What taiwon lee doesn't like about Giovanni's Shrimp Truck:
I was cleaning next to the eating area, blowing dust, swearing at Korean people in English, and eating shrimp and dust together. Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $10–20 Recommended dishes: 새우 갈릭 스파이시 View all feedback.
The line for this place was long but moved surprisingly quick. Workers are friendly. Definitely recommend the shrimp scampi over the other flavors. Skip the Mac salad, it was meh, not much flavor. Lots of seating around. You get 12 shrimp 2 scoops of rice. One plate did fill me up pretty well. Overall, it was good but it did feel a little overhyped. It was good but not mind blowing like I expected from all the rave reviews it was expensive. About $18 for 12 shrimps 2 scoops of rice.
While on the island, we made a pit stop in Haleiwa. After hearing all the raving reviews about the shrimp trucks, we opted to try Giovanni's. We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The shrimp was served hot, and the flavors were outstanding! Giovanni's is situated in a small parking area with free-roaming chickens and several other trucks. Definitely worth a visit!
I traveled to oahu to try this famous giovannis only to be disappointed Shrimp had no flavor at all , and the oil was insane ! Rhe garlic was bare minimum Never again
Today we drove to kahuku to eat at one of the most famous and popular shrimp trucks. I wasn't brave to try the spicy one, but I should have, maybe it could have more flavor and less garlic. However, The workers are awesome, friendly and fast. Just something you want to try out here with a shaved ice if coming to this side of island where you find more locals and less crowded.
Giovanni's is extremely overrated. There're so many better tasting garlic shrimp around the island. I got a Scampi along with a side order of the hot spicy. The hot and spicy tastes like shrimp drenched in Tabasco sauce, it was very sour and spicy not really any other flavors or it. The. scampi was drenched in oil. The shrimps were overcooked and it was topped with garlic but there wasn't any additional depth to the dish. There was a line towards the end of the patio but it moved fairly quickly once we got our orders in. It was very convenient that they had patio seats along with a sink and soap for you to wash up after eating. But I'd recommend skipping this spot. As you're driving along the North Shore you'll run into a lot of other and better spots.
