Normally, I wouldn't expect a non-vegan establishment to have the best vegan food, but this donut was exceptional. During the holidays, they offered a vegan cake donut that was exceptionally large and satisfying. It reminded my spouse of a classic, old-fashioned donut with just the right amount of sugar and seasoning. What User doesn't like about Hero Doughnuts:
I am really thankful that there is a donut shop in Birmingham that serves vegan donuts, but why do they only have one option? Places like Revolution Donuts in Atlanta offer 6-8 vegan options daily. However, the vegan donut they do have is actually quite good. It is usually a vegan blueberry cake donut, and unlike most vegan cake donuts I have tried, it has a great texture. Yummy! Cheeseburger was delicious! I wish the frit was warm, but we just took her home and warmed her up.
My first time here. Will definitely be back. The guy that took my order was polite and friendly with a nice smile. I got the apple fritter, loaded hash browns and a cold brew. Food was good! The coffee was smooth, among the best I have had.
Our #1 spot for doughnuts. Not to heavy, not too sweet! Don't miss king cake season- Best king cake in Birmingham... trust me, I would know.
I am most certainly a repeat offender at Hero, but this location seems to be poor representation of the brand. The food is still amazing, don't get me wrong, but this location always seems be battling issues such as:Availability of donuts, cleanliness in the dining area, the absolute BATTLEGROUND that is the parking lot, service is very hit or miss, and so on. I will spare the details. I love Hero, but I highly suggest going to the downtown location if you want to experience Hero in all of its glory
Good, not great doughnuts. Good pork chop and chicken sandwiches...and hamburgers. Doughnuts are overrated and overpriced.
