Friendly service and yummy pizza. The dough was amazing! We stopped here upon the recommendation of one of the employees of our hotel in Soldotna. The pizza place has also access to a Pokemon gym and a pokestop. So for Pokemon go fans, you can collect and battle while you wait for your pizza to be ready. Beautiful views and inexpensive. Great for families since it is also informal and has some arcade games. View all feedback.
What Honey K doesn't like about Starvin Marvins Pizza:
We frequent this place once a year when we're out in Homer for fishing trip. Rustic place, excellent mountain views, partial sea views. Fresh pizzas and quite filling. Big on toppings too. Their breadsticks are great. Worth a stop while in Homer. TIP: Call ahead for bigger parties for seating and ordering. 30 mins at least so you dont have to wait. View all feedback.
Marvin 's is reminiscent of a chain pizzeria, like Shakey 's, complete with old cabinet arcade games, plastic table cloth topped tables, and a hometown server who you 'd expect to call you darlin ' when you stroll in.The inside of the restaurant is bigger than I thought, with the majority of its seating overlooking the water (with most of the view being the murky, grassy, puddles around the spit , but a view nonetheless. There was a note on the menu about auto gratuity for big groups, like kids ' sports teams, so I assume this is the place parents herd their kids into so the strung out, little soccer players can scarf down slabs of cheesy pizza and beat each other with their plastic plates and shake red pepper all over the place while moms and dads drink themselves under the table to try to drown out the cacophony of screaming children. I 'm not from Homer, but I imagine this is a long time staple of the town 's skyline. It felt old, a little grimy (with the broken power outlet cover and the dead bees and general grime mucked up in the window sills , but you can definitely get the vibe that this must be a nice hang out for the locals especially in the wintertime when all of the touring blue hairs have long returned to their desert homes. The waitress was really nice. She didn 't get around to refilling our waters, because she was the only server for the steady stream of customers (they were shortstaffed this summer, she told us later , but she was accommodating and polite, even to the annoying kids at the table over. The prices were a little high. $28, including tip, for lunch for two (appetizer bread, side salad, and a burger . Blah blah, Alaskan tax, yeah we all know that. The salad was surprisingly good for $5, with fresh veg and some cheese. The burger came with chips in a bag and it was a self assembly deal (even the mayo came in a little packet. Kinda weird. Almost feels like most of the food was best designed for take out or something. The pesto cream cheese bread was pretty good, but I think the sub bread they use for it really made it. It was slightly chewy and subtly sweet, and sooo good. I would have loved to take some of the sub loaves back with me. This is probably the best place to come for to get good service with alright food. Probably take a big group here for some greasy pizza and beer, and you 'd be happy. You 'll probably get much better service than the snooty ones over at Fat Olives.
BEST PIZZA AND VIEW!!! Right on the spit watching planes come in! So delicious and such great service!!! We will definitely be back!!
This is the best pizza I've ever had! Everything was perfect. I had a pepperoni pineapple pizza with garlic butter on the side and it was so amazing. Extra cheese on top that wasn't melted made it just that much better. Fast service, honestly just perfect. Deserves way more than 3 stars!!!!!!
Although I thought it was impossible that the people and customer service could get any worse than it already is in Homer, my most recent experience here proved me wrong. Been here several times in the past and although the service always sucks and the wait to get your pizza is beyond unacceptable, the pizza is decent and makes the wait half way tolerable. However, the young rude B*T*H that was working on May 29th should be fired so she can go crawl back in her hole and collect unemployment because Homer doesn 't need any more of her type that treat 'outsiders ' like ****. Her snively comments and self righteous attitude have no business being in the customer service industry. I would leave some examples of our experience but that would be another paragraph. So just one thing, AVOID Starvin Marvin 's in the future like we will be!!
Amazing dough, but absolute dog **** service, not even pleasant talking on the phone with them. The waitress doesn't know the menu and honestly sounds like she doesn't care. Also way too expensive for the quality as of late.
