Los Almuerzos

We had breakfast here at this quaint little eatery, it was simply amazing and I almost thought my Abuela was cooking. Be sure to go check out the Cazuelas with all of the delishious food thats being prepared. I had the Cecina con huevos fritos...and a side of frijoles, My wife had the Chilaquiles verdes con pollo. both were delishious. The best part was the coffee and Churrro.....OMG the Churro's here are the best ever!!!!

Great food, home made and real mexican taste. It was nice for a work breakfast. You have to ask for the wifi connection password.

With a variety of options this is a great place for a nice Mexican breakfast, from quesadillas to Mexican breakfast dishes like chicharrón, machaca and a variety of salsas to choose from. You can put together your own breakfast to have a bit of everything...that interested you on the menu.

Information is everything, and having a relative who could help me navigate through the panoply of restaurants in Puebla, Mexico's culinary Mecca, was priceless. Los Almuerzos (translated the brunches) is well known to locals as The breakfast and brunch restaurant in town. The restaurant is...unassuming in a busy corner off the beaten path. Do not expect arches, blue and white tile, or age old wooden religious icons hanging from its walls. Your servers will not be dressed in China Poblana dresses, but what this restaurant lacks in decor more than makes up in food. Now don't get me wrong, this is no taco stand either. As you walk in, you are immediately drawn by a visually stimulating array of large size cazuelas (clay pots) lined up in front of the kitchen, and filled with mouth watering Mexican fare like mole, cochinita pibil, and other local favorites. A host will expeditiously get you a table, which will await you with a basket full of churro and conchas, the latter being delectable sweet bread. Don't expect a warm and fuzzy introduction by your server. Los Almuerzos is a busy place and servers are on the move all the time. Thus, you may have to be a little proactive. In Puebla as in many other parts of Latin America and Spain, you dunk your churro in hot chocolate, so make sure you order chocolate caliente! The menu boasts from an amazing selection of local favorites including, chilaquiles (green and red), with chicken, eggs, or cesina (a regional dry and salted skirt steak), rajaditas, chorizo con huevo, all of which we ordered, and enjoyed immensely. Your plate will likely come with black refried beans topped with queso blanco, and totopos (tortillla chips). When you are done eating, you can finish off with a cafe de hoya, a delightful coffee sweetened with piloncillo, a type of Mexican raw sugar. Make sure you give yourself time to walk the food, lest you fall in a deep carb coma! Provecho
