My first experience here was in February. There was zero waiting time. Seat yourself. Our waitress was really busy but took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. Food came out hot. Good ol country cooking at its finest. Now I eat here regularly. I can count on my coffee staying full and hot food. Everyone has their preference, try it out and see if it fits your taste buds. Cheers! View all feedback.
What Adriana V doesn't like about The Rusty Star Cafe:
this place is racist and disgusting! my father went to eat here yesterday and was treated horribly by staff. He ate here with some co workers and they had just got out of work so didn 't look their best. They are all Mexican so the workers treated them horribly and provided bland food. When they were leaving they screamed don 't come back . Don 't support racist businesses. View all feedback.
I have eaten at this restaurant since I moved back into town because they serve home grown catfish and not swai fish and said that they would always serve this fish. Now I am a whole catfish person but this is the one place I eat filet fish and today will be my last time eating there because I paid almost $1600 for 4 pieces of filet fish that had been cut into 4 strips and a half order of freshly made onion rings normally I would get fish and 2 vegetables with toast it use to cost $10.99 it has went up to $13.99 for a large fish plate but if you get onion rings a half order you only get the one side and instead of 4 filets it's 4 strips that have been cut from filets not worth my hard earned money and I will not buy another plate. I like the place and the food waitresses are nice but I use to get my money worth this is not the case. Everything is going up I will eat from home!
If you're looking for good home cooking or want breakfast any time of day, Rusty Star is your place!! Wonderful waitstaff, prices, and food!

We stopped on our way home to Austin for lunch. We had the cheeseburger basket and I substituted onion rings for an extra charge). My husband got a cup of chili. The food was all really good and the homemade onion rings were incredible...they had a breakfast buffet which looked delicious, but we did not choose to eat off it simply because I wanted the onion rings. My husband made his cheeseburger into a chili cheeseburger. Both of us agreed it was too much food and we could have split a one meal... great value for the price.
The breakfasts are delicious. We tried the pancakes(huge), biscuits sausage gravy (yummy) and fresh eggs made exactly the way we ordered. Our waitress was fantastic, I wish we had gotten her name. Thin blonde who has probably worked there quite a while and knew all the locals (many) who came in. Excellent service, great sense of humor got it all right.
