Spoonbar - Healdsburg

This was our 4th time giving this place a try. Our fourth and final time. Great vibe, but the service is incredibly slow. I mean incredibly slow. We waited 20 minutes after seating to have to ask for service. It then took them 45 minutes to deliver our cocktails. There seems to be quite a few servers or wait staff, but they only have specific tasks. The food was so so.

Not a good night at SpoonBar. Turns out they had a large party in a private room that seems to have thrown off the kitchen. We started off with the miyagi oysters. The oysters were awful. Not at all fresh, not properly shucked and the pomegranate sherry minuet was tasteless. I only had one and I'm hoping I don't get sick. They did take the oysters off the bill and comped two glasses of wine which was appreciated. If that had been the only issue it wouldn't have been so bad. Unfortunately our entrees took a long time to get out of the kitchen. When they showed up my husband's potatoes were close to raw. Our waitperson told us that another table had told her their potatoes were also under cooked. This was our first time at SpoonBar and we were celebrating our anniversary it definitely wasn't the evening we were hoping to have.

As a local, my friends and I were looking for a great restaurant near the plaza. We had high hopes, but our experience was HORRIBLE! We ordered two flat iron steaks medium rare. One came rare rare and one was well done. Brought it to the attention of our server....he offered to take rare steak back and refire it. I was baffled by this because if a steak is reheated after it was already sliced...it will not cook to the desired temperature. What shocked me the most is the kitchen cut the steak before sending it out. They clearly saw the steaks were not cooked to medium rare, but hey let's send it out anyway. The server only offered to refire the rare rare steak. He didn't offer to bring something else on the menu, comp at least one meal, offer a beverage, or to bring it to the manager's attention. The server awkwardly asked...what do you want me to do? Seriously? You work in the service industry and don't know what to do. Drinks took forever to come to the table. The puntarelle and fennel salad was bitter and tasted like weeds. The Frito Misto everything was mushy. We didn't bother to say anything else about the horrible food because we knew the server didn't care. Maybe the word is spreading in Healdsburg about the poor food quality because it was pretty empty for a Saturday night. I just wish I would have heard the word on the street and gone somewhere else. I hope this review will bring the proper attention to the general manager about our experience and the restaurant can be successful in the future. The only star of the evening was the brazino and the ambiance of the back patio.

I love eating here because the food is good and you can hear the conversation from the people across from you. This time, however the waiter was a little bit pushy, trying to get us to order appetizers because he said it was going to take a half an hour for our entrées, when we didn't order the appetizers, magically appeared in about 15 minutes. But I will return.

This place is way over rated. Terrible food, terrible service. Do yourself a favor and avoid spending way too much money for a very disappointing meal and evening
