I had a wonderful evening on Saturday with some friends at this pub. The decor is beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful, always willing to offer recommendations on the best beer to pair with our meals. Speaking of beer, they have their own brewery and a great variety from around the world. It was a pleasant experience and I look forward to returning. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Bull:
We visited this restaurant today and found the location to be really nice. Due to the beautiful weather, we chose to sit in the terrace garden. However, we were informed that table service was only available indoors. After some confusion with the staff, we were eventually allowed to sit on the patio. Unfortunately, the smell from the garbage containers in the rear garden was off-putting. There is definitely room for... View all feedback.
Next on the agenda was the conversational traffic, and yes, that was the exact word that it used to describe this interval course, a drawn boar, savoy kohl and butter bohnensuppet and a little smoked by smoked hock and toms house cured guanciale on the side. the suppe was again sturdy and full-bodied, it has the intensity of a Japanese ram suppene base, which is remarkable for the hours it will take to achieve this performance. also the sandwich was tasty. creamy smoked **** with a light anise fragrance, between two small slices roasted caraway brot.
Overall was good. What we found is we came to the table after two mins someone was asking if we want to order sth after 2 mins another staff came and asked again. We were asked three times since we arrived after 10 mins. We understand that it was a Friday night and of course we knew u need the table back by 8.30! This was too much! We were not feeling relaxing at all. Regarding the food. We really liked the Ribs its tasty however, with £25 we expected the ribs was bigger and bigger salad. Burrata was a joke , came plain with two small cubes of burnt bread. Anyway, overall was okay. Food was okay a bit overpriced though. maybe because of pandemic?
We had a very nice evening. The staff were great, although possibly understaffed by one or two people. Prices are pretty standard for what is quite a posh pub, but even better with the 50% off January offer on mains. I had the steak which was extremely good. I had a 4% bitter called Twin Streams which was really nice. My wife had a lager which was 4.7% stronger than she normally has at 4%, so if you could stock more selection of weaker lagers that would be great
Overall good experience. Great service and tasty food (even if a bit pricey at times). I would definitely recommend the chicken roast and the mushroom toast.
Revisiting the Bull in 2022 is a very disappointing experience compared to what it was pre Pandemic. The Sunday roast portion sizes are a fraction of what they were, the children's portion is virtually the same size at less than half the price. Food arrived cold. Worst of all the bull's iconic giant yorkshire puddings are replaced with something I haven't the words to describe (see photos) , worst excuse for YP I've ever had. £19 for a Sunday roast that leaves you still hungry afterwards is not good value. Dessert was nice. This time a more noticeable difference between the child and adult portion. The ice cream was good quality and the brownie had a good texture although a little too sweet for my taste.
