I discovered this through a small mention in a book called Extreme BBQ and realized we lived close to Mary's after moving to Scottsboro Al. We had a smile on our face when we saw the place. True, honest bbq. Prices were fair, service was fantastic. All the sides we got were great(mac cheese, green beans, mayo slaw, vinegar slaw and baked beans is what we got). What Ricky Harmon doesn't like about Mary's Pit Bq:
Mary's is east of Huntsville so it's a bit of an adventure getting there. It's a classic bbq shack with few seats inside and picnic tables under a couple of shade trees. It's fine looking at the signatures all over the walls and ceiling. The food was good but isn't necessarily a destination for me. Nice pulled pork and excellent green beans, but about half of the sides weren't available. We had a great time! View all feedback.
BBQ sandwich comboPulled pork with slaw,sauce,chip,drink ....was very good will definitely be back....walk in white door to order at a small opening in wall.....4-5 stool type seats inside rest is outside picknick tables....loved it.?
Out of the way BBQ but the food and portion was great. You have to eat outside and it's not much to look at but give it a try.
This is my favorite BBQ place. The pulled pork is perfect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Been eating this barbecue for 62 years. Best barbecue I have ever had. Still tastes just like it did 62 years ago. Just wish it were not so far away!!
