I was here a few times. service was always great. the atmosphere is great, a lot of history of the environment. beautiful view of the sea around. and eating is never disappointed. The Cole smart is something of the best I had. I have the world's largest seafood plate, which was quite large with several seafood. if they are able to take away some food, they can probably turn it off, but for most people, two people cou... What User doesn't like about Top O' The River:
Ordered the fried pickles-Excellent Best Ive had in the South Coleslaw and Cornbread were awesome However, the six people who ordered the main Entrees all agreed that they were Awful! For a place that is known for their catfish-we were very disappointed. There was more fried breading than catfish. Also the largest tray of seafood was very small in food but the tray itself was large-too bad it was not full. We went to... View all feedback.
Great food, service and servings! Top O' The River always starts with picked onions, Slav and Cornbread, which is a great combination of itself! If you like Turnip Greens, I suggest you try. Don't order big ones unless you have a big group! I had her rib today and it was great. Honestly, I never had a bad meal at TOTR and I almost ate everything from their menu. If you're in the Guntersville area, it has to stop.
This was my first time experiencing Top O the River. I has always heard that it was good eating from family. So the trick is don't get full on the cornbread, coleslaw, and Fried pickles! They are all so good but you won't be able to eat your food! Everything was good country cooking and our server Oliva was so nice and attentive.
Top O’ The River was great! We were sat right away, and they seemed to be very organized and running smoothly. Our server was super friendly and attentive! It seemed like all the servers nearby were as well. We started with the sweet tea and lemonade based on our server’s recommendation, and they were great! We got the fried pickles which were some of the best ever. We also enjoyed the cornbread and coleslaw while we waited for our meals. We got the combo with fried catfish and stuffed crab and the grilled shrimp k-bobs. Everything was excellent! We would definitely come back again.
I really enjoyed the food tonight. I had the #5 creole boiled shrimp and #2 fried catfish filet off the combo platter. My fiancé had the Riverboat special. Even though it was crowded the service was excellent and the food came out fast. FYI the #5 shrimp is served cold. The waitress did warn me, but I liked it. The one thing I really liked was the large drink glasses. You will not go thirsty. They started you with cornbread, coleslaw, and pickled onions. These came out as a standard staple. The only negative thing I have to say was our table. The table was clean it is just older and has a sticky/tacky feeling. My fiancé has OCD and really didn't like the feeling of the table. I do like to keep these reviews honest of my personal experience. Overall I will definitely go back.
Best mustard greens and Cole slaw around. Seafood is great, but we really go for the greens we always by extra to bring back home
